Hello, I'm back! A very busy weekend. Bea did well eating according to my boyfriend. She lost a half oz. but that's it. I cut up some longer strips for her. A basically coated them in the soupie, she nibbled on some of them, but basically just licked that soupie off of them. Hopefully she will just get hungry enough that she will start eating them. I forgot to leave some in her cage this morn. But I will tonight. I have been leaving the FD turkey treats and it looks like she has started to snack on those during the day. Which makes me feel better

Welcome back! It sounds like she is making a little progress - slow and steady wins the race! Keep up the chunks and work on slooowly decreasing the soup a little at a time. And now sadly it is My turn to take a hiatus. For the next 2.5 weeks Sherry is going to take over for me as I am totally swamped by finals right now. Sherry has a ton of experience with insu and stubborn ferrets so she may even have a few different tricks up her sleeve to try while I'm out. I will still check in when I can, but until May 9th my life is going to consist of studying, studying, and more studying... Ugh, yay...? LOL Anyways, you'll be in good hands and I'll pop in if I can.

Okay, will do. I am also wrapping up my first year of grad school this week. So I sympathize with you! Good luck with finals!

Hi Sherry! Bea is getting mainly chicken, lamb, pork and beef. Recently i'm using chicken heart and pig liver and egg shell. For the slivers, mostly chicken and pork right now. She is eating a little bit of the slivers. I've decreased the amount of soupie and increased the amount and size of the slivers. She is VERY picky, I know she can eat the bigger pieces because i've seen her do it. But mostly she licks the soupie off the slivers and sometimes rolls them around in her mouth and then spits them back out. Because we've been pushing the slivers she has dropped down to 1lb.7.5oz. (her weight tonight before I fed her). I think I'm going to let her mow down on a bunch of soupie tonight. I leave Whole Life FD 100% turkey treats in her cage during the day. Sometimes she munches on them sometimes not. I really don't know what to do as far as convincing her to eat the meat chunks. I really think that she would rather starve then eat them.

Something else you can try with her is using ground meat to get her used to the texture, instead of the slivers(they come back in shortly). Once she is accepting ground, THEN you start mixing in tiny slivers just a bit bigger than the ground and work up from there. So if you can, grab some ground chicken, turkey, or beef. Mix about a tsp into her serving of soup and feed that instead. And my apologies for just leaving you hanging- our elderly cat was helped to cross to the bridge a couple days ago and we were both preoccupied

Hi Sherry, sorry for your loss Bea has been eating larger chunks. She seems to not like to eat very many though. Her soupie mixture is a lot like the consistency of ground meat too. Maybe I'm being too impatient I have a feeling one day she is just going to decide that she really likes the meat chunks and go at it. She eats little heart and liver pieces too.

Okay, if she is eating small pieces then try her on a dish of JUST small pieces. Damp them with a bit of water and see if she'll take them. If not mix a bit of soup in them to coat them.

Hey, just letting you know that I'm back! How is little Bea doing? Did you give Sherry's suggestion a shot and if so, how did it go?

Hello, I've had to move out of my art studio this past week last minute. It's been crazy. But I am catching back up on things now. I will try Sherry's suggestion tomorrow. Bea is still eating her soup with small chunks (1/2 a dime size) Bea is 1lb 8oz, summer weight I think

Question - do you have access to commercial grinds? Like HareToday and RadCat? Let me know how Sherry's suggestion goes tomorrow and we'll go from there. Do you have a smartphone by chance? There's a proboards app for iPhone and androids, and you can access the forum through the smartphone web broswers too. Might make it easier for you to pop in and update, just a thought. Sorry to hear that you had to move on such short notice, that's never fun.

Thanks luckily it was a small studio, so not too much stuff to move I was going to do HareToday but the shipping was so much money and my friend decided not to go in on an order with me. But I have recently acquired local chicken liver and hearts. I recently gave Bea ground bison too, she seemed to love that. I'll let you know how the plain slivers go later today. Fingers crossed! Oh, I do have a smart phone so I'll download that app.
