Hello!! Yes, things are getting crazy here too! Holiday + Finals + Holiday = Crazy town Bea is doing really good (knock on wood) Her winter coat came in better than I thought it would and her appetite picked up and she has gained a little weight! 1lb. 6.5 oz. Here are some recent pics of Bea (the first one was taken a few days ago and the others I took today, I swear she got fluffier since the first pic!)

Here is one of her eating her steak slivers: (she is slowly getting used to eating bone. I gave her some pieces of turkey neck and she cleaned the bone parts pretty thoroughly I still need to work on her menu

Awww hi little Bea <3 Good work on the chunks and bones - keep making them progressively bigger. And definitely post a menu as soon as you can so we can keep working on that. He coat looks a little dry in the second pic (I think I see dandruff?) - will she eat salmon oil? This time of year is pretty dry in most places. I would start giving her a little oil every 3 days or so - salmon oil is best, followed by fish oil, followed by olive oil. That should help her skin be more hydrated an her fur will benefit too and be super sleek. She looks great though. Keep it up! (dance)

Hey pick up an Ulu while you are there!! $6 at Freddies and worth every penny - just a cheap souvenir one works perfectly fine. AMAZING for meat prep (AND for chopping veggies for the humans). Awesome leverage for smashing bones. (dance) ALSO while there stock up on Yummy Chummy salmon oil - it is SO much cheaper and is very high quality stuff.

Hello I ended up getting an Ulu at Freddies I haven't used it to cut up bones though, next time! I didn't get a chance to get the salmon oil, but I'll make my brother bring me back some Here is Bea's feeding schedule: (she is still being a little finicky about the bone in meat so she is still getting bone meal powder with muscle meat) Monday am: bone in meat Monday pm: bone in meat Tuesday am: bone in meat Tuesday pm: muscle meat Wednesday am: bone in meat Wednesday pm: heart Thursday am: bone in meat Thursday pm: bone in meat Friday am: bone in meat Friday pm: ½ heart + ¼ liver + ¼ other organ Saturday am: bone in meat Saturday pm: muscle meat Sunday am: edible bone in meat Sunday pm: ½ liver + ½ other organ (with an occasional raw egg, approx. 1/week)

Menu looks great - what proteins is she getting in there? And yaaay for ulus - let me know how you like it when you try it out! I LOVE mine. Keep working on the bones - just like chunks it's just going to take patience and persistence. She has come SO far and you guys are almost there! (dance) Keep it up Bea (and mom!!)! Give your adorable little girly a snuggle from me!

Right now, she is primarily getting beef, lamb and chicken. For the organ it's chicken hearts and liver. What other organ do you recommend? She is also getting the fish oil everyday too.
Still waiting on the suprilorin implant from my vet to arrive. Her coat is super fluffy still and her appetite is great. I think her energy level will be better once she gets her new implant.
I can still feel the old implant in there, It's much smaller but is it okay to get another one when I can sill feel the other one?

Yes, you will probably always be able to feel the other one. The old implants used to totally dissolve I believe, but they changed them a bit and now they don't - or maybe I am wrong and they never did. Either way, the implant stops releasing active drug, but the implant device stays in the body. Is your vet able to get an implant? Right now they are all on backorder, I haven't heard of anyone being able to get one yet. If she starts not feeling well or is far overdue, you may want to ask about doing Lupron and a Melatonin implant to hold her off until Des is back in stock. :/ Fingers crossed you don't need to do that though. For the organs, heart is a muscle meat - not an organ. Other organs that are really good are stuff like kidney, brain, uterus, spleen, pancreas, etc. Think secreting organs. Her organ content should ideally be at least half liver, and up to half other organs. Beef and lamb are both boneless, so as she starts chewing on bones better you'll have to either keep supplementing with the bone-meal or find some more proteins - which would be ideal anyways - otherwise her diet will end up super chicken heavy. Three proteins is just the bare minimum, more is always better, even if it's just rotating different things through. Look for some Cornish Game Hens - those are good small, edible bones. I can get whole ducks and rabbits at the Asian Market for not too bad of a price too - those are 2 really good bone-in options that you could mix in. If you have enough freezer space to buy in bulk, that tends to save money overall, and then you can freeze the meat and stretch the spendier meats out over time to supplement the variety.

Okay, I'll try to find other meats. I'm going to a bigger city this weekend so I'll try to find the Asian market there. That clears up the whole organ/muscle meat thing Unfortunately we have a smallish propane fridge that has a tiny freezer But I'll see what I can find, I think I'll definitely be able to find a cornish hen. I've tried to find rabbit it the past and hadn't any luck. Hopefully the Asian market in Portland will have something. Thanks!
