Very hopefully we will be buying a ferret nation cage today can't wait! Ours is extremely uncomfortable, it has the tiniest openings. And is the most annoying thing to clean. Also we can climb to the top of this cage which has a wire roof, and are in danger of breaking our little paws. When we get a ferret nation we will be setting up a feeding nice spot to eat and the stolen bits of meat should be contained within the cage

We have the new cage and everyone is sleeping in it Agree I had to start over twice while assembling it * because it was disassembled before we got it and there was no instructions as it was second hand I still messed up the bottom shelf a little but I am not remaking it a third time for a while (disagree)

All my FN and CN were used...no assembly instructions. The new 182's are easy to put together but the 142's (my favourite) take a little more ingenuity. They used to have instructions on their website I don't know if they still do or not. I took some of my cages apart and assembled them together to provide a larger play space. The girls now have a double horizontal and the rescues have a 3 wide (2 FN + 1 CN). This leaves me with 1 FN 182 (which by the way is a different size to the 142) and a 142. ciao

We have had a foster ferret in our house recently. We call her Magnolia (Maggie), but it doesn't really matter because she is deaf and doesn't know what we call her. She is about 8 years old, and we suspect insulinoma. She will be leaving to a more permanent foster home in a bit of time, but I wanted to put a photo here of her sleeping.

Loved & enjoyed your videos. One of my boys was VERY recently diagnosed with Insulinoma as well and is newly eating raw chicken (I did buy a package of raw rabbit bits but they turned their noses adamantly, so that's ok). Tonight was the first night 2 of my 3 lapped up the blended raw chicken 'pudding'. I'm so glad my 'Little Guy' with Insulinoma has taken to it...he wasn't as crazy for it in the tiny cut up pieces...would only eat a few teaspoons (if) at a time. Wish you the best. -Jodi & petkids

Thanks about the videos (dance) It is very frightening to get the insulinoma diagnosis. My Zack had a BG of 28 when he was diagnosed. But for a while now we have stopped taking the prednisolone, and have been managing his sugar levels with diet. It won't last, but it will prevent the side effects for as long as possible. With proper care even insulinoma ferrets can have a quality life for a normal span of years. It's interesting that you keep ferrets in California, I've heard of several people who do this, but it's probably a lot harder to find a vet. I've got family in the Bay Area I'm up in Canada. Glad that your guys are making progress with the blended chicken. To help them try new protein like rabbit, you could put some salmon oil in, or mix it with the chicken baby food that they are familiar with usually when you just start the introduction to meat you might want to stick with just chicken raw soup until they get a bit more comfortable It is lovely to meet you, and I wish for the best with your fuzzies.

I think this should fix it It's been snowing! I got a video of Honey today exploring snow for the first time in her life she was a bit cautious about it. Miri and Zack were cuddled up sleeping in their cage at that point so they didn't make it into the video. It was already dark when I let the three of them out to try the snow together, so I couldn't film it, but there was a lot more excitement about it the second time. And sorry for the mess on the balcony, half of it is the ferrets fault (they knocked down the flower pots). I'll try to get all three in a snow video today

That is adorable. I love the part where Honey is under all that snow and backs up! She is gorgeous by the way. Where I live in CO it doesn't snow all that much so I'm hoping we get a good one at least some time this year.

Thanks (dance) Hopefully you ferrets get to enjoy some snow soon too. We got really lucky because all this snow fell, but the temperature is relatively warm (for winter ) I've got another video here with all of them in it this morning. Ferrets are such brats sometimes, right after the video ended they knocked down that bag of potting soil, and immediately all got filthy in it. I had to give them a bath after. And the hole in the bag was their fault too hahah now that I come to think about it so is the fact that the plastic covers are no longer on the bikes, but part of the ferret party on the floor.

Our foster Raps, he has already been with us for a couple of weeks. I think he needs some photos here He did have a hopeful adoption parent, but it is not a sure case yet. Hopefully he finds his forever home. We have already got him eating chicken bits with some bones, and duck bits with some bones, and chicken egg yolk and quail eggs. His first day here Looking for cuddles And fitting in with the group (all 4 are in there)

And Miri found a new sleeping spot. Gave me a huge scare while I was looking for her. She sneaked into the bedroom closet and made a nest in the hems of my dresses.
