Great, Sorry I wasn't on for a few days.. School started and have been so busy with that. But now the hype is over and the work begins. So HOW MUCH would I put in the baggies? Do I do like.. Ice cube tray sizes? So a small cube? Or less for starters? I am going to start this tomorrow! Been saying it all week and then school took over and now it's over. Tomorrow is a great day to get them to like meat! Size portion for starters???

A chub is just a whole amount of mince usually 1, 2.5, or 5lbs, as compared to mince that is portioned out into patties And freeze in ice cube trays to start then just baggie the cubes together after frozen

I want to give this soup recipe a try. I've called a few different places looking for chicken hearts and livers. I found one place that has livers in stock right now. They also have gizzards but no hearts. Can I do this recipe with just livers for now? I had no idea it would be difficult to find organs! It sounds like I can order them from at least one place though. So that will be for in the future. Thanks for the info!

It doesn't have to be just chicken heart or liver. Any kind will do. It's just that most have better access to chicken parts than any other

Looking at this recipe posted at the top of this thread, when you say "chicken meat," do you mean like chicken breast? So, put 8 oz chicken breast and the rest of the ingredients?

Is it safe to offer this soupie recipe and only this soupie recipe while waiting for a mentor? I'd like to get a jump start while waiting for a mentor but don't want to negatively affect my girls' nutrition if I get them to switch to this recipe. I have a feeling it will serve only as a supplement to their kibble diet for a while. I just want to make sure if I'm successful without a mentor to get them onto this recipe, that I'm not keeping other nutrients from them that they will need.

Yes it is fine You will still have to give kibble until they are eating raw reliably, but you can certainly get a head start.

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but if you are feeding them this just starting out, how should I do this with kibble? I mean, Should I feed them this is the morning, and then a couple hours later put out their kibble? And also, how do I melt the cubes? Should I melt them in warm water? Or just leave them out to melt? So glad this site is here! So helpful!

Yes, remove the kibble a couple hours beforehand and give it back later. For thawing just set out in a dish. It will only take about half an hour

this may have been answered before.
If i want to use this recipe and substitute chicken heart for beef heart, or port heart. what would be the measurment of heart.
same thing for liver, if i was using pork liver, or beef liver what would be the measurement of liver.
so
8 oz meat ? oz heart ? oz liver 1 tsp egg shell powder
thanks

Hi just to say to sherrys recipe of 8oz chicken meat 1-2 chicken hearts 1/2 chicken liver 1/2 tsp powdered eggshell
you can also add one whole egg and mix one scoop of kitten replacer milk in some water and use that as the liquid to blend the soup together this is a really rich vitamin packed soup ideal for sick and young ferrets then I also use bone meal or bone flour in place of the egg shell if available take care bye for now Bev
