Do I have to use chicken or can I use a different kind of meat. I will use organs from a chicken still.

As I said, any meat is fine. You don't have to use chicken.

Brook, once she takes to soup you can try chunks of meat usually you start the size of your pinky nail and once she eats those you can increase the size of the chunks and so forth. The soup recipe was intended for sick/ transitioning animals. Yes it is balanced but getting your little one on bone in meats and eating other proteins is ideal.

Also, it greatly depends on the ferret. Stubborn ferrets can take very long to get from soup to chunks. Easy ferrets can be started on chicken wings from the beginning. The whole process takes a lot of oberservation and patience.

If they resist eating chunks, you can thicken the soup (less water) and start adding chunks to it.

Should I blend up the organs and bone meal powder but instead of it being blended 8 oz. chicken should I use pinky size pieces of some other type of muscle meat?

@brookeallen I highly recommend you create your own transition thread. This way all your questions can be grouped together and easily located for mentors and members to help you more efficiently. You can create a thread for your own transition here: holisticferret60.proboards.com/board/66/diet-transitions

Will this soup be ok as a sole source of nutrition? My ferret doesn't eat kibble anymore and will only eat carnivore care so I want to try switching him to a healthier diet, so I'd like to use the raw soup mix as a long term feeding plan if that is viable. How many cubes do they need to eat minimum a day and how many times per day is recommended for feeding them this soup? My ferret is insulinomic and takes prenisolone so I'm concerned about his sugar getting low in between feedings.

Does your ferret have any tooth problems? If you can train him to eat chunks of meat and bone, it's better for his teeth and if nothing else it could prevent him from overeating. The food could also be out longer without spoiling. If you had to make soup his permanent diet you'd want to use a rotation of multiple soups to add protein variety, and would need to switch out half of the liver with a suitable secreting organ (ie. kidney). It also might be worth using bone meal instead of egg shell because that would be easier to deal with instead of having to constantly dry and grind shells yourself.

The soup itself isn't complete for long term. You need actual bone in there as eggshell powder and bonemeal don't have the micronutrients raw bone does. Best bet is to start a switching thread in Diet Transitions, and/or apply for a mentor. That way you can get him off the carnivore care and onto at least commercial grinds which use bone. Although odds are he will progress to actual chunks and bone in meals.

He has periodontal disease, I'm not sure if that would make him reluctant to chew bones. He is an extremely picky ferret with his foods. Would adding kidney be enough to make it suitable long term or would he still need the bones? I could try grinding them up in a magic bullet but I don't know how fine it would grind it or if it would damage the magic bullet. I do want to apply for a mentor but I don't meet the requirements (yet)

You could consider a raw grind diet, it includes ground up raw bones, so that would meet the requirement Sherry mentioned. My understanding is that it takes special equipment to grind bones yourself. You'd likely need to brush his teeth because ground food won't keep the teeth clean.
