My name is Sarah, and initially I created an account on Holistic Ferret because Snowy, my DEW male had recently went into surgery (Thursday the 21st.) Because he has cysturia, the inability to reabsorb cystine protein in his kidneys, he had to have cystine stones removed. I did quite a bit of research to make sure I was making the right decision, and decided that he needed to be put on a raw diet (rabbit or lamb, not chicken or duck.)
Unfortunately, I won't be able to do that for him.
Situations in my life have arose where I can't turn to anyone for temporary help, and am unable to support my little carpet sharks.
I'm absolutely devastated.
I have three adorable 1-2 year old Marshall ferrets, two male (A DEW Snowy, and a dark brown sable? Bandit,) and a female that is lighter than the male (is that considered a silver?) Her name is Musket.
I would hope that someone with experience with ferrets would want to take on the challenge of not only three more fuzzies, but one who is also special needs. I thought that because most users seem to be very avid about the raw diet, that Snowy would get the attention he needs.
I would rather try to hang onto them for dear life than to separate them, especially the two boys who came together. Snowy was so depressed he stopped eating when he had to be separated from his buddy for a few days, I hate to imagine what would happen for longer. Musket is still rather aloof, and I think it's because she's a female and also because she hasn't been with them as long. If the need arose, I could bear to separate her from the other two as long as she ended up with another ferret.
I don't want to taint how I feel about my babies by even asking for money. I will give them away to someone I feel I can trust knows how to handle them, and if that person felt like paying for them, I'd unfortunately have to take them up on it because I am so far down in the hole as money goes that I'd have to take it.
These guys would come with everything they own, that includes their cage, three small plastic dishes, two metal cat cage dishes, a large water bottle, bag of their food, a cat bed (they love to hide in and wrestle,) lots of assorted pant legs to tunnel through, hole-y socks, a crocheted blanket I made, a red octopus toy, a litter box that they never use and litter that I never could train them in. There's probably more but that could just be a surprise.
I really hope that none of you out there feel that I'm a bad mom, because I really hate myself right now. I really can't seem to stop crying. I'm praying that someone will be able to find all three of them a good home together soon as I don't have long before I get desperate and have to give them away to someone who wouldn't be able to care for them.
If you know of any Shelters that can take them in the Minneapolis or Anoka area that can take all three and keep them together if need be, or any friends or family that you know could handle such a group of buddies, please let me know. I will be checking this site constantly. Also please, feel free to e-mail me at clout062@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns. I will answer them freely.
My first priority is their safety and happiness.
I will go and take fresh pictures of them right now and post them as soon as they're up.
I'm sobbing like an idiot, they're so d*mn cute.
