I m recovering from bronchitis, I tried to keep my distance from my ferrets, but my one has fallen ill. We have a vet appointment tommrow, i just wanted to know what are some treatment options to discuss with the vet. He still eating and drinking, just not as much, not as active, and just sounds congested, and sneezing. Poor boy.

Whatever he wants to eat. Chicken baby food, or a good homemade duck soup made out of cooked chicken and broth. Keep him eating and the drinking. I just went through all of my 8 with the flu. It was torture, but with the food and fluids they all made it through. My vet also prescribed an antibiotic just in case, because it is very easy for ferrets to get pneumonia or secondary infections. Let him sleep as much as he wants. The most important thing though, which I already said, is food, drinking, and sleeping.

If he is drinking on his own that is best. The flu with my guys lasted almost 2 weeks for some and a week for others. The older ones took longer to get over it.

Another idea that can help with congestion is to put the shower on hot and spend some time in the bathroom to steam. Good luck with your little one.

Definitely good luck. Odds are he may need some precautionary antibiotics to prevent secondary infections like pneumonia. Steamy shower room for congestion. Warm soups, warm meat only baby foods. Basically whatever he'll eat right now. And yes- the others can definitely catch this from him.

It can go up to three weeks depending on how bad it is.
