Any small animal that can't fly or glide really shouldn't ride on your shoulder without a steadying hand on them IMO. Accidents happen too fast for us to react.

I have had a hard enough time keeping Hammie from climbing up on the kitchen table and trying to make a jump for the kitchen counter. Took about 10 or 15 times before He decided that he can't make it. every so often I would hear thunk and see Hammie running down the hall licking his wounds. Was not a soft landing as I have tile floor and tile counter tops. He would hit the tile counter top then hit the tile floor. I could do nothing but move the kitchen table a little further away so he would think twice about trying it. But sometimes someone would leave a chair pulled out and it would give him a make able jump, one he made it a couple of times his confidence would come back and he would try over and over. He eventually got older or wiser and stopped trying

lol'd unclejoe! The things we do for our fuzzies! I don't generally just walk around with Slinks on my shoulder w/o also having a hand on him, or at least a free hand to grab him should he slip or jump... and he usually wiggles his little (getting bigger) backside before he leaps, so I always know to grab him. The problem this time, well 2 problems actually... my hands were full, and he didn't wiggle. But all's well that ends well, right?! And maybe he learned a lesson - doubt it, but maybe...

Thinking back, it seems that maybe I DID have a hand on him until I got to the office. I know I was carrying his food in one hand, but I don't remember having anything else with me. I was right in front of the couch and reaching for the TV remote when he fell.

Have been keeping you both in my thoughts and am glad that it was just getting the wind knocked out of him and that he is fine now.

Have been keeping you both in my thoughts and am glad that it was just getting the wind knocked out of him and that he is fine now. Thank you. He does seem to be OK. I've been keeping a pretty close eye on him this weekend, and he's eating, drinking, pooping, and playing like normal
