None of mine open cabinets. I do tend to leave some drawers open for them, and I will open a cabinet, when they ask (the Pez Head look, is the polite ferret way to ask).

Everything I have read said you should at least lock any cabinets or drawers with chemicals and sharp objects in them and I've only seen the magnetic ones suggested which we can't use.

My ferrets don't open cabinets.. My cats do that.... and then shred the toilet paper in the cabinets for a nest...

We use magnetic latches. The screws are tiny. I used self adhesive Velcro for a bit at my old house. You have to have enough overlap from the door to the frame and sometimes pulls off.

I tried every lock under the sun... Not one worked... I ended up emptying the ones he can get to, so now he has a bunch of cozy and dark spots and I lack of cabinet space...
