Hi kids,
So I posted a few weeks ago that I was doing research on getting a new fuzzit. I've had many in the past but none currently.
I went to Petco last night to get cat food and stopped to look at the ferrets. They were, of course, sleeping in a giant pile. So I made the Rise Up Ye Ferret noise. The tiniest one snapped her eyes open and stared right at me. Then she stood up and started reaching for me. The rest of them couldn't care less.
She was tiny tiny tiny! I asked the guy working to open the cage for me, and I swear - she jumped right into my arms and started licking my face. I've had plenty of friendly ferrets in the past, but she seemed fixated on me and my voice.
The guy helping me was super nice and actually knowledgable (he had an adopted deaf ferret at home). I don't expect much from that place normally.
I went home and I couldn't stop thinking about her. My heart hurt. I was actually heartbroken thinking about her there. Without me. Finally after a few hours of moping, my boyfriend was like, "Will you just go get the ferret already?!"
So we raced back to Petco before they closed and I brought her home. I may be biased, but she's the cutest darn thing I've ever seen. I can't get over how small she is -- and he said she was the same age as the others in there. I think she's the runt. She fits in one of my hands.
I have some photos of her -- although you know how difficult it is to take pics of these moving targets! Plus she's a cinnamon so her eyes came out red and the Photoshop red-eye tool kind of made her look like a zombie!
I haven't named her yet - suggestions? I keep calling her "cricket" because she makes the best noises that remind me of them.
She loves my stuffed otter that I got at the aquarium:
