Are you using excel? If so, you could upload the pics into Photobucket and paste the link to the specific picture into the excel sheet.

Still using the iPad app but it is supposed to transfer over into excel theough ldropbox. So I can play around with it and see. What is next for me? Do I review my info and then let you guys know if I have any questions? Haven't seen the odd poops since I posted that photo but I'm watching for them.

Well Jocelyn needs to review your menu and make sure nothing is missing, then submit it to Heather for final approval. In the meanwhile whole your menu is being reviewed, you will have a mini-quiz. Then graduation! (dance) And yes if you have any questions we haven't covered or you are still unsure about, ask away!

Menu looks great! Will PM Heather shortly after posting this.
Okay, Quiz time (dance) But if you feel like you cannot answer a question... let us know. We can review the section further and another similar question will be given.
1. You have run out of heart, how much taurine supplement should your ferrets get? (be specific) 2. How can you tell if your ferret is getting too much or too little bone? 3. How many meals a week should be organ, and of those meals how much needs to be liver? 4. Is it best to feed the egg whites, egg yolk, or the entire egg? 5. About how long is a ferret's digestion time?

1. You have run out of heart, how much taurine supplement should your ferrets get? (be specific) They need 500mg split into 2 doses. One 250mg dose in the AM and one 250mg dose in the PM. 2. How can you tell if your ferret is getting too much or too little bone? They will have loose stool if they are getting too little bone or dry stool if they are getting too much. 3. How many meals a week should be organ, and of those meals how much needs to be liver? They need 1.5 meals of organs out of 14 total meals. One meal should be 1/2 liver mixed with another organ and the other .5 meal should be liver. 4. Is it best to feed the egg whites, egg yolk, or the entire egg? Always feed the entire egg because the egg whites alone can cause a deficiency in.... Something! I'll have to go back and look! Only feed egg no more than once every 3 days or so. 5. About how long is a ferret's digestion time? Fast! I think it is 4 hours.

1. You have run out of heart, how much taurine supplement should your ferrets get? (be specific) They need 500mg split into 2 doses. One 250mg dose in the AM and one 250mg dose in the PM. Correct
2. How can you tell if your ferret is getting too much or too little bone? They will have loose stool if they are getting too little bone or dry stool if they are getting too much. Correct
3. How many meals a week should be organ, and of those meals how much needs to be liver? They need 1.5 meals of organs out of 14 total meals. One meal should be 1/2 liver mixed with another organ and the other .5 meal should be liver. Technically, it's 1.5 meals of organ where half of it is liver and the other half is the other organ. But, still correct (giggle)
4. Is it best to feed the egg whites, egg yolk, or the entire egg? Always feed the entire egg because the egg whites alone can cause a deficiency in.... Something! I'll have to go back and look! Only feed egg no more than once every 3 days or so. Correct! Here's a link where Katt explains the reasoning behind feeding a whole egg. The deficiency is in Biotin: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/3811/raw-eggs-safe?page=6&scrollTo=198239
5. About how long is a ferret's digestion time? Fast! I think it is 4 hours. Yup! I swore I read 12 hrs earlier TODAY but their digestion rate is about 3-4 hrs. So, Correct yet again (dance)
Yay! 5 out of 5! ^_^ So proud of you. Will let you know when your menu has been approved for graduation. If you still have questions, go ahead and ask them! Hope the kids are doing well. (giggle)

Hurray! I was trying to do it all from memory so I didn't want to look anything up when I answered and see how I did I did correct the 12 hrs after I wrote it and closed it. I was thinking about the questions and I was like wait that's not right! And went back. I was was thinking of meals at first and then I realized it was DIGESTION time!! So yay! I'm excited!!! The babies are excited...to be eating so well! I switched up the menu this week because I came across some pork shoulder ribs on sale and they love them! I'm getting better at making sure Dottie is eating more bone too. Instead of putting the meat in with the duck feet right away I only put a few slices and then wait until she has eaten a toe, etc before adding in more meat. Otherwise I find her seeking out all of the meat first. I kind of reward her bone eating with more slices of chicken, which she loves to gobble up! Now the poops!! I have found that when the dogs bark it really freaks her out. Do you think that is enough stress to cause that occasional stressed out poop? I'm here a lot but I know when I'm gone the dogs tend to bark more. Just a thought as I am trying to monitor things closely. Thanks once again Katt and Jocelyn! Both of you have been great teachers and mentors! We are almost there!!!

There are times when this old lady really hates forums and forum names vs real names....sorry, couldn't find you. Wasn't until I figured out this was the split mentoring that I realized whom I was dealing with....walks hunched and grumbling leaning on cane poking at cats on the way... Congratulations :boing: You've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone, now . You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days either Sherry or I will lock down this thread and place it in the archives but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly . ciao

Yay!!! You graduated!! (dance) :boing: (dance) lol CONGRATS! ^_^
Ooh great find on the pork shoulder rib! Keep an eye on other organs and stuff for them. =)
Now, the poop question. Well as previously stated, Keep monitoring her food intake and see if it's a specific protein or food pattern causing Dottie's off stool but at the same time, the dog barks could potentially cause a stress poop if they really stress her out. Could be something to talk to your vet about? Let us know what you observe. This thread may or may not be closed by then but you can shoot us a message. We're not disappearing, we're still here if you ever need us. Congrats again!

If she is visibly stressed by the dog, is there any way you can separate them a little more so she feels more secure? Different room or something where she can't hear the barking as well? If she is stressed out by the barking, it could be contributing to the poop, but it could still be something else. Like J said, keep watching it and see if you notice any pattern. And a vet trip never hurts.

WOW!!! I thought I still had something else I had to do! Hurray! I'm so happy! THANK YOU KATT AND JOCELYN!! You both were the perfect mentors for me! You gave me the perfect balance of support and allowed me the time I needed when my illness got in the way, never making me feel bad, only cheering me on. I can't tell you how much your support meant to me. I'm getting emotional bc I would not have made it to the end without your support, and I am totally serious. There were times when I was sick that I thought I couldn't do it and it wouldn't work with my health issues flaring up. But you supported me and helped me understand how to make it work with my illness. I know a lot of it was just you being there. But that meant so much. My babies mean so much to me. They have been the perfect ferrets after Baby died and I think we have bonded so quickly bc I almost immediately started the diet switch after getting them. It is a much more intimate way of interacting with them and I have been able to build a more in depth trust with them so fast because of it. At least that's my take on it. So I thank you both sincerely and I thank the staff on this site for giving of your time freely just to better the lives of our babies! YOU ARE AWESOME! Shannon And don't worry I'm going to send more questions! I WILL FIND YOU! Lol

(Even if J did most of the work hahaha) I'm glad that you stuck through it even with the health issues to dodge and weave around. Living with chronic disease isn't easy, nor is raising and caring for a family member with special needs. I've had mentees with far less to deal with give up or just disappear. You are a strong woman, and I'm glad to know you! You and your furs did great. (dance) I say this calls for a party with your son! You said he likes parties if I remember correctly - what better excuse for a celebration do you need! hehe And a big congrats to you too J! You're going to be a fantastic mentor. (Told you so!) (dance)
