Ok so while I'm waiting for a mentor... Is it possible to give my 3-4 mo old babies too much chicken, liver, and / or egg in place of their kibble mush? They eat up small chunks as long as it is coated with a little broth or some kind of soup mixture. Should I be waiting a certain amount of time between kibble mush and raw feeds and if so how long? Also, how long is too long for the chicken to sit out? If they don't finish what I put out immediately should i throw out? If I am doing this twice a day do I need to be adding a supplement?
I'm concerned about not leaving kibble mush out all the time because they are so young. So pointers about time between kibble and raw feeding is welcomed!
I pulled back a bit the last 2 days because poops were getting off and then had some mucus. They seem to be leveling out today. All input welcome!

If I were you I would make soupie to give. I'm thinking poops were off due to no egg shells. You can add chunks of meat to the soupie. Take kibble away 2-3 hours before. Chicken can sit out for about 12 hours. No supplement needed if you are starting with soupie. It had the heart, organs and calcium needed to start. Actually being young is in their favor when it comes to being a couple hours without food. No worries about a couple of hours.

Have you been feeding bone at all...at 3-4 months these guys should be bottomless pits and will eat anything. Start adding chicken wings and backs as a good bone starter. You can cut them into more manageable pieces but at this age once they realize there's meat attached to it they will go crazy with it. You can feed too much liver which will give your guys funky stools (black and tarry).

I would definitely be giving them bones to work on. Segment a wing at all joints. Cut the middle one in two. And cut the large bit lengthwise along the bone to expose the marrow. Give them that for 3-4 meals in a row(remove old just prior to next meal)

So now that I have my scale and all of the ingredients...woohoo!
Normally I leave watered down kibble out all the time since they are so young. Im not sure of the raw process yet...Where do I find info to learn about the steps to the switching process?

Do you recall if any were with young ones like mine...3-4 mos? That's my biggest concern. Making sure they are getting enough to grow etc as I switch.

Ok so yesterday they ate the soup and chicken chunks during the day. Then last night I mixed kibble in to make sure they had enough over night and... yucky poops today! If they will survive on the soup and chicken alone right now should I take away kibble altogether? Or keep it in the mix until I intro more meats? I have a ground mix of beef, turkey and pork I bought at the store I was going to mix in today but then the poops! So I have a little pumpkin and just the soup so far.
What do I do next??

Great progress, don't you just love it, when they happily eat! (dance) I found that all of mine had yucky poops for a few weeks, when I was switching them over to raw. My four will also have soft poops after their weekend organs.

Yes they love the chicken chunks! It's great! They have also chewednon a few chicken bones that i cracked in half! My biggest question is the kibble now! When, if, and how to use it during the switch...
oh and did I mention the poops had a greenish color? Is this ok?

So for the last 2 days they have had no kibble at all. Nothing but raw. Is it possible to give too much soup and not enough raw chunks of meat? Should I limit the amount of soup because they are going through it like crazy! They go through a batch every day along with chunks of either chicken or ground meat (mixture of beef, veal and pork). Their poops got better and then a little runny again today. They had bones over night and ate a lot of them. Not sure if Dottie (my girl) ate them but I do know it was definitely my boy Strax! He loves the bones!
So I'm looking for any certain ratio of meat chunks vs. soup per day or is there such thing as giving too much soup?

Right now you are combining the "tummies with teeth" aspect of feeding a baby, along with their initial raw appetite surge  For now, since they are eating chunks/bones so well get them on a full raw diet as listed here: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/146/meat-bone-organ-weekly-menuI'd now start limiting soups to once a week just to keep them used to it for when they get sick, or under the weather at some point. |

Awesome! Thanks Sherry! But one more question...
Once on the totally raw diet, how often do the babies need to eat? Ive been trying to keep something available for them most of the time. I back tracked a little and gave some mushed kibble over night when I wasn't feeling well. But I learned that since I sometimes will be "down and out" from AS flare ups I am going to need to have lots of meat and meals ready to go so I dont have to go back to the kibble for a quick meal again. I've already been organizing the freezer and fridge to accommodate this.
Other than that its been going well!
