Their poos are starting to look better & some of the pumpkin has started to come through. Both have enjoyed having rabbit soup. Scarlett actually ate most of her's from the bowl. Oh yay! And good girl Scarlett! (dance) That is great. As soon as their pooping issues stabilize, let's go ahead and try the next protein. Ether pork or chicken meat, and as long as they don't react to that, follow up in ~2 days with hearts and organs of that meat, if that works for you. ok. I'll pick up some of both tomorrow.

Great! I'd start with just a little bit of muscle meat. If they will eat it willingly and don't seem to react to it (you'll *usually* know fairly quickly if they do, but some reactions build slowly too), increase the new meat as much as they will allow/eat, until they are eating pure pork (or chicken if that's what you pick). If they do well on the new muscle-meat protein for ~2 days, then start trying pork (or chicken) heart and organs.

We have achieved normal poos (dance) They are eating the ground/commercial rabbit on their own :boing: I found Scarlett chewing on the some over looked chicken neck pieces yesterday.
I think we are ready to add the chicken. Is it ok for it to have bone? Should I just start adding a bit at a time to their rabbit or offer it separately?

(dance) Bone is perfectly fine! It's them you have to convince of that. lol I would add a little to their rabbit first (OR separately really, the key is a Little). See how they do. If they don't react to it give them some more. If they do okay with a full meal of chicken meat, then go ahead and start trying chicken heart and organs.

I've added a tsp of chicken to their rabbit & we are back to spoon feeding & scuffing to get them to eat it. (headwall) Oh joy. lol How bad do they hate it? Are they hacking and fighting? You don't want to force feed and stress them out. You could cut back to 1/2 tsp for a few days and work it up from there more gradually. How are their poops doing with the new protein? Oh I forget if I mentioned this already, but if you can get some taurine I would supplement their soups with 500mg per ferret per day until they are getting heart meat regularly. Rabbit is almost completely devoid of taurine, and esp without heart in their diet right now it's important that they get that.

I'll check with Theresa tomorrow about the taurine powder.
They are not hacking. They will lick it off the spoon with scuffing. George is less resistant than Scarlett. She is living up to her name. Their poos are normal.

Ohh a little Diva! Lucky lucky you! That's great their poos are normal so far, hopefully that continues. It's a good sign for chicken though! If they are eating it on their "own" hand fed that is a good start. If you can keep up the hand feeding that is great, it will help move them along faster. If you want to try to reduce hand feeding time though, you could try cutting the chicken back to a smaller amount and increasing it more slowly. It's entirely up to you.

Poos are still normal. Both are now eating out of the bowl. George is deeply ashamed of himself for eating new foods & Scarlett circles the bowl for awhile before eating. Pair of drama queens.
Should I try adding 1/2 a chicken heart or just try increasing the chicken?

As long as they keep doing well you should add some liver in within a few days too. That may be interesting with them being such drama queens LOL but it will be good to get them headed towards balance.

Their poos are slightly off today. I'm giving them a dose of the tea with slippery elm & holding off on adding the heart today.

How much chicken are they up to? All ferrets have some random off days, and IBD ferrets REALLY have on and off days. If the off poops continue it is possible they are sensitive to chicken. Are they getting some powdered eggshell or bonemeal or ground bone of some sort in their mix? Also as a general note, I'd try not to use the slippery elm too much because it is a tummy coater, meaning it can and will interfere with nutrient absorption. It's a great supplement, but definitely something to use only minimally.
