i think, maybe i was pushing them to fast. i offered them even horse meat (i would NEVER, EVER buy it for myself Agree), deer meat.. they don't like it. but i'm offering them every day. they just have to get used to that taste, like Nyx did. with Nyx, i tried almost a year till she started to eat meat. now she eats better then other two about coconut oil, i read that it reduces inflammation on IBD ferrets, that's why i bought it. so far the poop is good. not perfect, but i don't think she'll ever have perfect poop... she's not ready for bones yet, i offer them every day. tomorrow, with rabbit, lamb is on the menu.. Agree

Yep doesn't hurt to offer it, gamey meat is a whole different game than chicken so some love it, some snub it. And sometimes it's just the cut. If I chop up beef heart for mine they ignore it. If I chop off a piece of my steak suddenly they love beef. What you can do is just take 2-3 small pieces of a new protein and mix it in the old, so it's not enough to deter them from eating and they might pick around it but they seem more willing to try that way sometimes.

That's why it pays to keep offering, what they refuse one day they love the next. Silly brats. With a good variety of meats under their belt now we just have to up size and get them eating bones well.

I left them rabbit mince with pieces of rabbit meat 1/2' big in the cage for the night. We'll se what will happen in the morning. It is so hard to follow weekly plan with this mince. Can you suggest something for tomorrow? I was thinking to give them lamb brain to see if they'll eat..

Awesome! That is just fantastic that they all liked it and ate it well. So they are eating heart and an organ well which is super important. Watch your chunks, sometimes if you do too large they might be hesitant to start but I find cutting either a longer thin piece or if you do a thicker chunk then slice a few little openings/rips in one side.
Normally for my two ferrets a half days amount would be half a chicken wing, and then they might get about an ounce of something boneless or maybe just a mouse for dinner. Of course my brats are currently refusing to touch their chicken wings so I've left them in there since yesterday afternoon, now Pandora finally ate her half and got a small guinea pig, Hannibal is still refusing and he's a big fat healthy boy so I left him with the chicken still. I'd bet money he'll have eaten it by tonight. He just doesn't like chicken much or working for his meal.

They are eating bigger chunks only from the spoon. Bay an Oscar take some by themselves, Nyx don't. I can see, mine don't really want to eat the chicken either. Don't know why, they ate it from the beginning, till few months ago, when i had to put chicken away b/c of Nyx. I thought the chicken will be peace of cake for them but, i'm still offering. Baylis ate again 3 pieces of rabbit with bones during the night! Yaaaaaay.... (dance) (but from yesterday, of course...she wouldn't touch it if it's fresh ) Nyx 960g Baylis 750g Oscar 1865g

Is it normal to feel like i'm stuck, and like they'll never eat normaly??? It's so frustrating, only Oscar ate this morning. Baylis and Nyx just took few chunks of meat in their mince. They're driving me crazy...
i'll try with liver today, will give them some bigger chunks to see if they'll eat. I have pork and chicken liver, mix for Oscar and Baylis, and only pork for Nyx.

No luck with the liver yesterday... Baylis ate bones in meat, other two just their mince. I even tried to put some liver in the mince but with no luck. They refuses to eat even their mince after that.

Hmmm we'll have to figure out something on the liver, you were putting it in the soup mix anyways weren't you? You aren't stuck, look they are all eating raw so that is the big hurdle. What I would do is offer the chunked meat first, if they haven't touched in a few hours offer the mince.

the mince is made of meat, bones and organs including liver. So they are getting it, i hope enough. I just wanted to give them only liver, just to see if they''ll eat it. I even put it in the mince (liver chunks), but it was obviously too much liver taste for them. i feel like i'm stuck with Nyx. She's been eating the mince for few months now, refusing the chunks. Sometimes she does eat, but from the spoon or my finger. Rarely by herself, and only small chunks and stripes. I know she'll get used to it like she did with the meat (it took me almost a year to start with the raw meat mince with her), it's all so slow and frustrating... Baylis is doing great with meat, she eats pieces 2cm big sometimes, with bones. But not fresh, of course. Oscar is eating chunks, they both prefer rabbit and pork. Tomorrow is 1 month without the kibble for two of them

Nyx has been on mince a long time, and it's easier, she doesn't have to put any effort in! Don't worry she will get there. In the meantime just keep an eye on her teeth and brush as needed. Go back to mixing in smaller chunks, just like a coarser grind basically. If we can work up the whole mince a bit at a time maybe that will help.
How do they look, a month with no kibble now?
