Okay, so as some of you know I live in Australia, and I discovered the website 'vitamingrocer.com.au' that sells heaps of ferret products that I can never find available here in WA. One of the downfalls of this though, is I don't know if it is complete rubbish or not! So the kibble available was horrifying bad (but one of my friends with a farm said that when they slaughter some of their sheep, they will give me the heart and liver!)..but what did catch my eye was ferretone and ferretvite. I have heard of them but does anyone actually use them? It might just be the aussie ferrets but my girls are very small and have very dodgy fur...maybe it is just hotter here but all the pictures of girl ferrets I see are so gorgeous and the raw soupie doesn't seem to be fattening them up at all

First- it's summer where you are, so they won't be gaining any weight right now. And given the heat wave I've been reading about they'll be even less interested. TBH the ONLY supplements I use are salmon oil, marine fish oil, krill oil, and extra virgin olive oil. On a balanced raw diet they don't need anything else. Stay far, far away from ferrevite- insulinoma in a tube. Pure sugar. Ferretone, although I do use it from time to time for training, has BHT's and BTA's, both known carcinogens.

Oh god D: yeah, at the moment all they do is sleep during all this silly heat! All laid out like dead beetles. It's really important to me to learn all this things, considering that I hope to become a vet nurse! Hardly anyone has any knowledge about ferrets over here, its ridiculous. I worked at one vet that needed me to hold them during examination because they were scared of them. And this one time when I went into the pet shop they tried to sell me kibble that the assistant fed their ferret..and the first ingredient was corn meal! Poor Australia...always behind
