Hi is he 2 or 3 weeks old? if three weeks old it is a diet of mush feed ( which has milk mixed in along with the blended meat )I normally do it on a three hour rotation first feed meat mush with small amount of milk then repeat every three to four hours ( you can stretch it to four if they are eating good amounts and drinking plenty )is he making any attempt to lap from a saucer ? or are you doing syringe feedings? at three weeks he can learn to lap simply place a saucer of sloppy mush down dip his face in smear a little in his mouth and leave him to it lol they get in a h*ll of a mess but once they get a taste for them selves often there is no stopping them lol you unfortunately will have to play mum and clean him down after wards and top up his feed as the first few attempts usually ends up on them not in them lol at four weeks the soup mix can become thicker more like a paste with milk offered in a different saucer and this can be given every morning lunch time t time super time and last thing at night ( I normally leave a double helping in the cage over night at four to five weeks ) at five weeks your moving on to ground meats with again separate milk bowls by this stage he should be feeding himself but meat needs to be available when he wants it ( I normally stick to the four week routine until there 12 weeks anyway as meat placed in last thing at night is always devoured when I wake up even if it is a double portion lol) from 12 weeks to 6 month I feed four times a day morning lunch tea and supper ( growing kids eat a LOT lol ) if you have any more questions please just ask take care bye for now bev

Hi mix in some milk into the meat mush and offer him a bit warm milk on a saucer( often they drink it if its warm ) make sure milk and food are always around if he is feeding himself as he wont have a very big tummy and it will pass through rather quickly ( as I am sure you are finding lol ) normally mum would stash meat in the nest for him to chew on when ever he needed it but fluids he would get from her during the night and the milk is rich in calcium they can dehydrate very quickly so make sure the soup has plenty fluid in it this way he has to lap down some fluid ( at this age I make it really sloppy at four weeks its more paste like )please keep us updated on how he is doing take care bye for now Bev

I'm really looking forward to following his story poor lad. And I am SO glad you were the one there for him Great thing about Bev's(crazylady) advice is this is a lady who was raised with ferrets generational breeders so she KNOWS her stuff

He looks great. I'm glad you got to hang onto one for your efforts, which appear to have been quite successful! Congrats!

You know you've done absolutely amazing things for this wee one and for the momma and her kits too. Your a true friend in every sense of the word and I think your friend/acquaintance has no idea what she's lost by treating you so poorly. Looking after that wee one the way you have is really amazing considering you had no idea in the first place on how to go about it. My hats off to you :goodjob: I think I would have been having a heart attack with a jill going to deliver kits at any day and then rescuing the wee one from certain death when momma rejected him. ciao

Hi heathers right its not easy I know lol keep up the good work and pretty soon you will be able to sleep all night long lol one thing I would say do is find him a little teddy to cuddle up to or something of that nature ( nothing with long hair he can suck though ) this just makes them feel as if they are in a group and secure and he will be less likely to suck on your older ferrets ears when they do meet lol ( I once settled an orphan in with toy rabbit now that was something lol )please keep us updated on how he is getting along take care bye for now Bev

Looks to be a sable to me from those two pic. He should darken up once he loses his kit coat.

What a cute baby! He looks like a Champagne to me, but Sherry is our resident color expert. Also, baby colors seem to change and darken with time. Crash does look like he will have a mask, I just love a little mask. I'm not an experienced breeder, so let them weigh in, on the water question. :thankyou: again, for taking such good care of little Crash. You have done a remarkable job, and I am so happy and Proud of You.
