The Friday night "Dad" feeding time went good. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall so I could have watched it. He did tell me that Miko & Penelope ate the straight soupies too. I wonder if I am trying to push them to fast and putting to many little chunkies in. Coco, Emmett & Mikah didn't eat so much, not sure if it was: how long do I keep putting the salmon & EVOO oil in there. Do I slowly cut back and if they won't eat, put more in? Monday I will post their weights. That is our weigh day! (giggle) I swear they are getting calmer or something now that they are eating more raw. Perhaps more bonded or something, I don't know, but they seem different. You know what I mean? It's hard to explain.....

As for using a lure you have to play it by ear. I'd start slowly cutting back and see how they do.

Will start cutting back on the oils.
We were so happy this morning. Lulu and Coco ate a few of the little chunkies!!!
Can I use chicken gizzards in place of the hearts? I weigh up the liver & hearts and didn't have enough hearts to make 1 oz so I added some gizzard meat. Now I am completely out of hearts for 2 weeks or till I am able to find more at a store.
I need to thank you a hundred times over for help and advice. I appreciate it soo much!!! I'm also a big question asker cause I usually doubt myself so much when it comes to things. If my asking all time is to much let me know, I will not be offended or get upset. Okay?

No. Gizzards do not contain the taurine they need And it *might* be an idea to have some taurine powder on hand for the times you can't access the heart. Their bodies can't produce it on their own and need an external source to do so. One 500 mg capsule per ferret per day will cover them And ask all the questions you need to! The only stupid question is the unasked one

Monday weigh in day! 2 stayed the same weight. 4 gained and ounce and Miko gained 3 ounces.
Everybody is moving right along. I just wish Coco would do a little better, but he is going at his own pace and that is good. The only thing I am wondering is Emmett eats chicken, just chicken and does eats some soupies. Should I cut the "just chicken" away from him? He isn't getting the other stuff he needs if he is only eating the chicken. I could put a little of that Pet G.O. but then he might not want anything else later on....
I also was going to try to take the lures away but going to keep doing it until they kids are more comfortable with the little chunks.

Is it okay that they only eat the soupies with chunkies in the mornings and night? I keep some in the cages during the day and night but a few don't eat. I have been putting kibbles in both cages at night. I weighed the kibble last night and this morning. Group 1 didn't eat any, that is George, Miko, Penelope & Lulu. They have been filling their bellies before bedtime...even Lulu started to be a little chow hound. Group 2, Emmett,Coco, & Mikah, I think Coco is eating kibble at night. He is the one who isn't eating as much, again. Should I stop putting kibble in there all together? I don't know if he figures out that he will get kibble anyway at night and that why he doesn't eat so much or what. If I see or hear them (all of them, not just Coco)awake during the day I offer some to the ones who are a little slower.

Some will definitely hold out for it . Try leaving it out for a night and see how he does the next morning. Same for the first group

Guess that is what I will have to do. The first group hasn't eaten kibble for 3 days!! My new plan of action for Coco and Mikah is No more salmon oil & EVOO. Mikah is doing great with it just plain. Coco, I figure I am more or less starting over with him anyway but man can he be blockheaded . I noticed now that after they eat they go find a place to lay down and nap or just sleep, even that crazy Penelope. Is that cause they are finally settling in with the raw? It just seems so weird they mellow out so fast. They play and all but not with the intensity and hyperness they had before....

Also I am guessing you are in an area in to Winter now (just odds re that way, most on the forum are) that means lazier ferrets, snuggling and conserving that valuable Winter fat they have carefully stacked on!

I'm thinking Emmett could move along. He is happy eating the diced up chicken breast, but do you think I could give him gizzard or something else. I am afraid he is not getting all the good stuff he needs. He does eats the soupies but not a lot of it.
The rest are doing good. I'm trying to cut back Coco and the EVOO. Trying a new plan... He is going to get the regular soupies BUT with only about 2 drips of EVOO. Lulu is still getting the oil cause I want to make sure she is eating good till I find out for sure if she will be going on pred. The other night she was shaky when she got up so I put a little smear of Karo on her gum and made sure she ate good. Then she was fine.
How long are they on the soupies about? I want to make a bunch up ahead but don't want to be stuck with a bunch in the freezer.

Am I doing this soupie thing wrong? I am giving them soupies mixed with little chunks. When I make the soupies I am still adding water too. I think I am trying to push the slower ones to much and shouldn't put chunkies in for them. Oh I am all confused as to how long they should just eat the soupies. If they eat the soupies for a while they will still be getting the nutrients and stuff they need, right? Oh I can't wait to get a mentor, so I know what I am doing...LOL

You are doing just FINE! How are they all taking the chunks/slivers? Right now they should only be getting slivers no larger than the size of your pinkie crescent Enough to give them some texture and not large enough that they have to chew yet And Heather just has to get some time to get you matched up

Lulu, Coco and Mikah are starting with the little chunkies. I think I was trying to push them to fast. Both Coco and Mikah are off the lure now. Lulu I still give her EVOO till I find out if she has to go on Pred. Then I will start her on plan soupies too. |_| ← that is about how big the chunkies are. The rest are eating them good.
Think I just had a moment yesterday when I got a little unsure of myself. Tell Heather to take her time. I just have to practice patience and let them go at their pace more.
Sherry, you have know idea how much I appreciate the time and patience you have with helping me. (dance)

Emmett loves chicken gizzards!! I put a few pieces in for the others and they are eating them. George surprised me, I had the little container of gizzard pieces on the floor and he went and smelled them and took one out on his own and ate it. Coco & Mikah will eat in the cage if the soupie/chunkies is in their kibble dish - they haven't had kibble or almost 2 weeks. I am finding that they do get hungry during the day so I try to let food on there. Lulu is the only one with EVOO yet. I am a little afraid to cut her off of that because of her insolinoma. I'm thinking I should wait till the pred kicks in - vet said about 1 -2 weeks.
Should I get them all eating the gizzard before I try another meat? Emmett eats everything so far! But all in all I think they are all doing great. It;s me who needs to practice patience sometimes...LOL
