Very recently Koda picked up a new "trick." Or should I say, HE taught US a new trick. He has trained us by Reverse Cage Raging. Yep, Cage Raging to get back IN his cage. It started maybe a month or two ago. He was really hungry and walked by the cage and smelled his food. He smarted sniffing at the feeding bin through the cage, then tried to he to it by cage raging. I could see he seemed to want in for some food so I let him in. He immediately proceeded to eat, and then when he went to lay down, I let him back out. It only takes once! Now whenever he wants a snack or drink, he cage rages to be let in the cage and once let in goes straight for whatever he wants, then lays down until he is let back out. LOL He knows we are trained now too bc as soon as you move and be realizes his cage raging has been heard, he immediately stops biting at the bars and turns to watch you and wait "patiently" to be let in. (Patient meaning as long as he can see you actively moving to let him in he will not bite the bars but if he is ignored that "patience" disappears). It is sooo funny! He is a demanding little bigger and sure knows how to get what he wants! Oh and on top of that, I have been giving salmon oil after nail clippings and brushing to earn forgiveness for he horrible torture. Well Koda has picked up and as soon as I put him down from grooming he stares at me expectantly and follows my every move until said treat is provided. Hahaha NEVER believe that we have them trained. It is THEM who train US!

Now that's funny as heck.. cage rage to get back in! I leave our cage open when ours are out, so they can come and go as they please to use their water and eat.

Haha He really does Sherry. It's them who own us... We close the cage to prevent meat stashing around the room. They are only allowed access to food in the cage other than jerky (the human-made kind, not ferret jerky lol) and freeze dried type dry treats.

I leave the door open for them to take themselves to bed or get a drink of water, but once I see them eat I close the doors up. I have an epic meat stasher.

I pull the food and water out of the cage. (Mo-Mo has trouble getting up and down with his bad confirmation and small heart) but I leave the doors open so they can use the potty in their cage or put themselves to bed. (Which they usually do!)
The other day, I had them out but had closed the doors on the bottom. (I was cleaning out their cage and washing blankets and the like) I finished up and left the door open on the one side. Not thinking anyone could get in, I wasn't concerned about it...until I went to put everyone up for bed! Miss Lady was missing! She wasn't in her usual spots around the house, and she wasn't in her usual spots in the cage. I started to panic. I flipped the couch over to look for holes...nothing. Checked the laundry pile in the wash room(which is a no ferret zone)...nothing. I started looking in places that were just silly, like the tank on the back of the toilet...even though it remains covered at all times. Then it dawned on me...I didn't check the bottom sleepy spots!
Apparently, she climbed up the outside of the cage, somehow pulled herself up on the slippery plastic tray, and made her way across the cage to the bottom right of their double wide, to curl up in their fresh-out-of-the-dryer blankets.
She is such a snot!

Funny, a couple of mine cage rage to go back in a well. Bear does it when he wants a nap in his hammock, mika does it for food or water. I also keep my cage closed to prevent food stashing. Silly ferrets!

I also keep the cage door open when Pippin is out. He goes back in for water and (usually) to use his litter box (had one outside but the cat used it and stunk up the room, even with daily cleanings.

Yeah, our cats use the ones we have out for the ferrets as well. But then our brats are simply too lazy to go back into the cage for that! And to be honest I think it is the reason our 20yr old senile cat is still peeing appropriately.
