Could it be potentially a dietary allergy? What does he currently eat? Kibble, raw, or prey? Did you change or add anything new to his diet?

Thank u Sherry!
@jocie - we have tried to think if anything could be a potential allergen but nothing has changed in months to include cleaners, detergents, food, litter and bedding. We really have no idea what could have caused this.

Hoping the antibiotics clear it up for him! If I remember correctly in Bandit's history, neither benedryl nor pred made any difference at all, did it?

We have never tried benedryl but he has never presented with the type of allergy one would give benedryl for. His issues have always been more 'severe' I guess u could say. As for the pred - we did try a month of this before with absolutely no effect. However, he wasn't given a very high or strong dose either if I remember correctly.

I am so very happy and relieved to report that we are now on day 6 of symptoms and Bandit is actually showing some improvement! He still has a bit of a rash on his chin and a bit of a swollen bottom lip, he still has crusty paws, and his nose is still brownish, but the red rashy stuff on his weewee is gone and his chin looks better. He even played a bit today He isn't entirely out of the woods yet but I think it's safe to say that this isn't distemper!!!!!!!!! (dance)

I can tell he feels better. His chin and nose look better, though they are still a bit discolored and the fur on his chin is still gone. His paws look just a little better, maybe not quite as swollen, but they are still kinda crusty. I really have no idea what could have caused this. I'm guessing whatever it was started on his paws and then moved to his face. I have been noticing over the past cpl of weeks that he has been chewing on his front paws more than usual so that would explain the transfer. Nothing has changed in our house so I'm at a loss. I'm taking Pogo in for a checkup next week on his tooth xtraction and I think I'm going to take Bandit along and have the vet give him a once over.
