As far as a blender or other mechanism with which to make your soup....I use bone meal so as not to put undue pressure on a grinding tool. Where do you find bone meal?

I bought mine online (amazon) and (of course) now I can't find it to give you the name. I'll look for it. *sheesh* hehehe

As a temporary thing it's fine to use, same as eggshell powder. Early in a switch you are just using it to replace calcium anyway. But yes, it will have had all the micronutrients cooked out of it.

And for the eggshell powder, you can make that at home if you go through enough eggs. Air dry the shells and crush with a mortar and pestle or grind up in a coffee grinder!

Yeah, I've been saving eggshells but with four babies, we'll go through the shells faster than I'm eating the eggs. But, I also found a supplier of quail eggs so we might be in good shape!

You'd be surprised at just how long it lasts! In spite of having transitioned I STILL have eggshell powder left from my first four

The fuzzies are all sleeping now, but I thought I'd start with a picture I took of their home earlier. I have the FN set up inside a large playpen area. Right now the blankets are in the washer because someone was a little too slow in changing the paper in the litter pans (we won't name names) and some others (who shall also remain nameless) had kibble poop accidents on a few items. All in all my first night as a ferrent went well. The babies seem very happy in their new home and have been dooking whenever they play. I think this is the first dig box they've had and they are going insane for it!

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful! I am so happy for all of you! You are going to be such a good ferrent! And you just won't believe all the joy and fun that they will bring into your home.

So glad you got your wee ones! May I make a suggestion? If there is any way, widen the play area near the FN. Some of mine climb their FN and would be over that playpen SO fast

Some of mine climb their FN and would be over that playpen SO fast I'll see what I can do although these guys haven't tried it yet and they are used to playpens from the shelter. Plus they aren't out in it unsupervised. If I ever decide that I want to leave them alone in it, I will definitely look into that. Thanks for the heads up!

Okay then. I was assuming they were unsupervised at times as they would apparently be safe

I work at home and when I have to leave (which is only for a short time each day) it is in the evening and I put them back in the cage. So far they've been asleep during that time, and they have been going back in the cage to sleep in their cubes during naptimes.
