Are you still giving him kefir? Keep giving that to him. Stop giving it two weeks after antibiotics end. I think when his antibiotics are over we need to keep track (on here) how his poops are with certain proteins. Do chicken for 2 days, post here what poops look like. Then beef two days, turkey for two days, lamb for two days. All proteins that you normally feed. Just remember to write diwn here what poops look like. I know you message me on Facebook but it is hard to keep track that way.

Yes as much as he hates it, I'm giving him Kefir. The antibiotics have ended. I will continue for 2 weeks.
I am keeping a handwritten log of his food/poops. I will start all over with the proteins. I message you on FB just cuz it's easy and I like Anita's input too (nod).
I am totally confused by all of this. I have never experienced anything like this in ferrets before. Actually, I was afraid it was worms, because the symptoms were what I remembered from a puppy I had once. Thank God that's not it. I am so worried it's IBD. He's just too young for pred!!
When I can order reishi again I will. I mentioned that New Chapter is out, so is Lucky Pharmacy. I can get it from Swanson, but the mg is strange. Is there a particular mg that I should be looking for? some were 900mg, 800mg, and Swanson was 460mg. I will need input as to how much to give. But, I won't be doing that soon because I can't order it.
I have tried to post pics here, but I can't seem to get it to work. Most pics come from my phone and I can't figure out how to get them on here.

The reishi I use is new chapter organics lifeshield. It is 500 mg per pill I believe. Give 1/4 capsule per day. Pulse therapy. Two weeks on, two weeks off.
The wysong pancreatic enzymes (panzyme) is in the wysong human section. You should put 1/4 capsule on food about 1 hr before serving it.

Wow. Today has been one of the worst in as long as I can remember! Couldn't log on in here either!! GRR
Ok. After the boys diggn' fresh chicken for 2 days, when I got in last night I saw that someone (can't determine which one, but assume it's Merlin) had runny poop with chunks (very small, 1/8" undigested chicken). I fed chicken again last night just to round out two complete days of chicken, and this morning, I see liquid (not dark) poop with bubbles. Oh my Gosh!!!!
This morning I decided to stop the chicken and give them S&C Dandy Lamb, rehydrated. They gave it the thumbs down, and I left it in their cage when I left for work.
I have to say that Hermes' tummy may also be on the fritz. From time to time it's a little loose, but never watery. I am totally lost. Still giving both boys Kefir, and every other day or so, giving Merlin his Reglan.
Help! New Chapter Organics is OUT of reishi, and so are most of the other pharmacy sites I've gone to. Just waiting til I can order some!!

Ok. I had given them S&C Dandy Lamb (rehydrated) yesterday for breakfast and they completely denied it, but I put it in the cage when I left for work. I wanted to see if Merlin's poop would firm up. When I got home from work they had eaten all of the DL and the poops looked better.
Last night they had the remainder of the chicken thigh, and Hermes even took the thigh bone under the sofa. I later retrieved it, he had only chewed on it and eaten the ends of the bone. Each boy also received .50ml Kefir before dinner.
I checked on them at 10:00 pm before retiring last night and viola! Nice firm, well-shaped poo! I was soooo happy!!
This morning (8/21) when I checked, however, there was pretty loose stools on top of well-formed poop. Not watery, not black and runny, just loose. I believe this would indicate chicken is not good in large doses for Merlin.

I would eliminate chicken for merlin then. So far we see that chicken and pork trigger his ibd right?

Actually, I'm not too sure about pork, but I haven't given him any, and it seems to be good. I have been giving them beef, CGH and lamb. I think lamb is a little rich for them, they just don't seem to chow down as much with it. But that really eliminates 2 proteins from their diet, and the availability of other proteins in this area are slim.
I am continuing to give them quail eggs (1 each ferret), and goat milk. They get heart and liver, but they really don't like it (picky?).
Ducks in this area are way expensive (will look during holidays). I am concerned about turkey with Merlin too.
I stopped by at lunch to secure the potty boxes (rearranging the cage), and noticed someone (Merlin?) has loose GREY stools!! Dinner and breakfast was S&C Duck Duck Goose, and Dandy Lamb, respectively. Would that do it?
Going to Publix tonight for turkey. They've had beef, eggs and goat milk cubes, and CGH this week. It's tuff to feed much of a variety with Merlin's problem.

Oh, yeah, I went to the only close (within 20 miles) real butcher shop (where I get steaks, etc.) and asked for scraps of turkey, venison or beef, pork, basically anything, and told them WHY I was asking. No, not homeless!!!! And they looked at me like I was crazy. Scraps? No, we don't have scraps here.
Creeps!

Regarding Merlin I'm just wondering about giardia. The symptoms are so much like his, and he does rebound nicely at times. He's been on flagyl (finished flagyl a few weeks ago), and septra (few months ago). I would assume the flagyl would have taken care of it, but I'm curious.
Just read an article about it, and because Merlin was living under a mobile home for who knows how long, I'm wondering if this might be a consideration. I've emailed my vet with the info, but wanted your input.

Oh I thought he tested him for that already! Well,, based on your FB pm (chicken, pork and turkey have caused funky poops) I would lean towards IBD. But testing them for coccida and giardia is certainly wise due to his history. Poor merlin. He prob drank stagnant water from puddles before he was found.

So as we discussed on FB, cut out the chicken, turkey and pork.
For proteins we can continue to use beef, lamb, duck, and CGH. Try to get rabbit, venison. Quail is hard to find for me too. Why don't you order grinds from Hare Today? They even have ground up mice

Ok. I'm at Hare Today: Will order some quail, but should it be "ground quail/bones/organs" 1 lb-$8.99 or "Whole carcass ground quail" 1 lb-$4.99? Sounds like the first one is best, so I guess the "whole ground quail" doesn't include the organs? Might call them. Rabbit: "Whole ground rabbit fur and all" 1 lb. $4.09 [do I have to get it with the fur? ] or can I get "ground rabbit/bones/organs" 2 lbs. $9.18. Just not sure I can handle the fur too. (disagree) If you encourage it, I'll do it. Noticed they sell ground guinea pigs. That almost made me lose my lunch. Sorry, but my son had guinea pigs as pets. It is just a little difficult. Thanks for telling me about this!! This is a fantastic site. They have so much great stuff, but cavies is a little much for me

Posted on HFF FB page regarding types of grind to buy, what shape the product was in when received, etc. Got lots of info. Want to order quail grind (bones/meat/organs), rabbit grind (same ingredients), and pheasant grind.
Will let you know how it works out.

Well, can't order from Hare Today. They have a 10 lb. limit. I don't have a separate freezer, and my fridge freezer is full already. GRRR
Took a stool (watery yellowish poop w/chunks) to vet on Monday for testing. Haven't heard from vet yet. In the meantime, last night Merlin's poop look great!!! firm, not watery. I just give up!! I am completely stupefied!!
