It kills me to do this, because I've invested so much time, money, and affection into them. It's tearing me up even typing this post. but I feel selfish keeping my ferrets. There's a lot of circumstances that are making keeping them unfair and even threatening their safety. They need to find a home as soon as possible. (I can elaborate for those curious, but didn't want to clog this post.)
About them:
- 2 males, 1 female.
- 1 male is dark brown, 1 male is light brown, and the female is a DEW.
- Eat Wellness CORE, but like Epigen 90. Light brown male eats raw.
- Female is very small and has Waardenburg's.
- Light brown male is very fearful of getting his nails clipped from an accident.
- They do not chew on power cords for some reason.
- Dark brown male is very affectionate and cuddly for a ferret.
- Female uses the litter box 100%, the males about 90%.
They come with 19 panels of a Marshall's Playpen, three litter boxes, a bed, tubes and tunnels, dishes, huge automatic waterer, toys, and whatever food is left. You can choose to not take any of these things, I can always donate them.
I live in La Crosse, Wisconsin. I'm willing to drive quite a ways, possibly over 100 miles for the right person.

Is that far from MN? There is a Minnesota Ferrets facebook page I am on and a few people looking for new additions. Did you contact any of the rescues in WI just in case?

I am sorry you are having to rehome your babies. That is never an easy choice. I have my hands full and am too far away anyways, but I hope you find a good home for them. I suggest posting on our FB page as well, and checking with local rescues.
Why if I may ask, are you feeling that you have to rehome them? Perhaps someone here can offer some advice on adjustments that might help you keep them...? :/ Regardless of the reasons, it is not an easy thing but it is sometimes necessary. Please keep us posted.

I know that this has been done many times before. People are usually very willing to help get babies to their new home if they can. |

It's quite a bit of reasons. They aren't even allowed in our house anymore. It's not my house, it's my grandparent's so I can't do much. They live in the garage, which is attached to our house but still. They'll be stuck in the garage this winter where it can get below freezing. They won't even let me put a heater in there because it's supposedly too expensive, even though when I ran one in my room constantly last year they had no issue with it. There's also our other dog who is often in the garage. At first she ignored the ferrets, but eventually she'd bite and bark at their playpen. They agreed to keep her out of the garage, but now our dog barks constantly from not being in her space. It's making my grandma pretty edgy and tense, so she sometimes throws the dog out there anyway when I'm not home to protest. I lock them in a large dog kennel when I'm not in the house now. I also have limited money. When we got them my family was in a lot better financial situation. It'll take awhile to build up a decent vet fund, and it could easily be wiped away. I don't qualify for Care Credit or any other credit cards as I don't have a credit score. I'll never forgive myself if I have to choose economic euthanasia over a life saving surgery. Me personally, I have chronic fatigue issues and I'm still working with doctors to try and figure out why. Working night shift doesn't help this. There are days when I come home, sleep, and then wake up with just enough time to tend to my pets basic needs, eat, shower, and go back to work. The ferrets sometimes sit in their playpen for 4-5 days without leaving. Major depression is also something I'm dealing with that is affecting my ability to even care for myself. I don't think I'll be moving out for another two years at least. Even when I do, I definitely won't have the funds to care for them as I work at a low level position at Walmart. I know people hate excuses, but I don't know what else to do. I've lurked this forum since before I even got ferrets, and trust the members here more than any place. Hence why I came here first.  I'm going to check out rescues and Facebook groups next. |

mom i think you would need to get a bigger cage isnt yours only 3 storys? i am unsure if that would be big enuf for 3 more fuzzies.

I'm sorry you are having to go through all of this. It does sound like you are making the best decision both for them and for yourself right now. You have to take care of yourself first before you can take care of someone else, and it sounds like their conditions are dangerous. A dog can cause serious damage, even if he just gets a leg through the bars. If you live in a mild enough area I would suggest an outdoor hutch, but that would cost air it money to get properly set up. I hope that you can find a loving home for them, I do think you are making the right choice. I also really hope you can get to a better spot yourself soon, emotionally and otherwise. It's never easy going through these rough spots in life, but you will come out the other side a stronger and wiser person. Good luck, please keep us posted! |

Yes... I would like to help... But like I said I am 14 hours away from you..... and I need to find another cage as my cage will be way to small with three more...... I don't know what the time frame is for you, but if you let me work on it... maybe we can work out a transport.... But it would be best if you could find someone closer to you as it will be a stressful journey for your poor babies...... Let me know what you want o do and if you want me to work something out I will start looking for another cage... My babies are out all day and go in there cage at night or if I am going to be gone from the house...... I have dogs and cats and my ferrets terrorize them.. HAHAHAHAHA.... It's funny to see big dogs and cats running away from my little fuzzies...... Since I found this out I do not let the fuzz butts and the cats & Dogs in the same room...... for multiple reasons.... lol......
