1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
Ferrets for Dummies. But more through the Ferret.com forum, leading me here!
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
Full raw. No live prey or anything! Couldn't handle that. But raw meat I'm all for!
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
Because it is obviously the best thing for them! I want the best for my babies. Not only that, but the best kibble I can get somewhat locally is 8 in 1 Ultimate (says a lot about my options right?), and my Petco recently stopped carrying it! So not only is raw the best for them, I can also get what I need two minutes away!
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
So willing. My school and work schedules will work great for the switch. I'm ready! Looking forward to it!
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
I have three fur kids!
Layla: 1 year 9 months! Female. No health problems. She's a little on the thin side. I have had her since June 2nd last year!
Bear: 1 year 3 months. Male. No health problems. He's a fatty! I have had him since June 1st of this year!
Loki: 1 year 3 months (he and Bear are biological litter mates!). Male. No health problems. He's also on the chubby side. But not as bad as Bear. Also had him since June 1st.
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc)
Food: 8 in 1 Ultimate
Treats: Ferret Lax (will gladly switch to pumpkin if that's better?)
N-Bone chew treats (only Layla and Loki like those)
And freeze dried chicken liver (only Bear eats that. But Layla and Loki will except it if its crumbled over their food).
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
No I haven't.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
I grew up around animals. Lived on a farm for a while. And bred Great Danes, Irish Setters, and Shih-Tzus! And I have owned birds, fish, hamsters in the past. And am currently owned by Zoie (Shih-Tzu), Sampson (Cat), Bo (Lab), Dallas (German Shepard), and my three ferret babies! So I thought it'd be worth mentioning my animal experience. Haha!
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
Every day. Plus I have an iPhone so I can access the forum on there too.
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
