ok I don't know what just happened but I was wondering why Alto was sleeping right after he ate and not running around so I grab him try to tickle him and get him to play...and nothing. He just walked away. Then my boyfriend was watching him and said he was really drooling so I grab him and he was literally dripping from his mouth. I grabbed a paper towel and kept wiping it and it was soaked. His eyes were so big so wide and almost limp. So I grab ferretvite and rub his gums then I grabbed pure honey and he licked it off my finger like he wanted it then he started spitting everywhere. He licked my finger again and did the same thing. I could see now he was coming out of it so I get the rest of his chicken mush and feed him and he eats like he's hungry. I didn't give him too much just enough till he was done. Poor guy. I don't know what that was all about. I thought maybe it was insulinoma...BUT, why would he have crashed right after he ate?? Makes no sense. If he just ate, wouldn't his blood sugars be balanced? WHY do these things always happen to me...at night...where I can't get to a vet...and my vet is 3 hours away.

Never mind about the kibble. Is there any way for you to get him to the vet tomorrow? This is pretty urgent.

hey it's no problem. It's faster to get info on the fb sometimes. And there are much more knowledgeable people on there. That's were I go too. I'm glad he's resembling normal. Just wondering, How long ago did your other ferrets go across the bridge?

With Turbo...it's been about 3 years, he was only a year old and it's still unknown why (dark areas on the xray so coulda been gas or a blockage we don't know). Stinker passed away last June at 7 years old and she had insulinoma and adrenal. Kahlua passed away 9 months ago, she was 6 years old...she was battling some kind of bacterial infection for a long time and she was never the same after Stinker died. Then Lulu I told u about her, she passed away about 2.5 months ago and 6 years old.

Wow, that's a lot of ferrets gone to the bridge. Gosh, I'm so sorry. that is a lot of driving...we need to find a new vet for you. Please let me know how things are going today with Alto. I said a lot of prayers for him and you last night. I'm going to go to work now but I'll keep the forum up today in case you post.

Ya it is a lot of ferrets lost...it never gets easier. After these 3, I think I'm gonna take a break for a while. At least until there's a vet in town that deals with ferrets or one that's closer. It's just too hard. And Alto is at McKnight vet in Calgary right now so ill keep u posted when I find out. Thanks so much for helping last night, means a lot.

The vets in my town are scary. We got them vaccinated a few years ago and they all almost died. The vet overdosed them and they were drooling all over and lost all bowel control. And we're limp. It was so scary. I don't vaccinate anymore now tho.

The vet tested his blood and it was at 2.9. I cannot figure out what that is in the other measurement.
