Rena is down to 22 oz which is the smallest she has ever been. She is also very lethargic. During floor time and when I bring her outside she usually runs around like crazy but now she just goes to sleep or just sits there. I have no idea how much she is eating. I make sure they always have food and they go through food quickly but I dont know if Renas eating any of it. I even tried giving her some kibble but she ignored it and went to sleep. Should I force feed her or take her to a vet or what? (I want to take her to a vet but my mom wants to wait so I need opinions)

You may not have time to wait. When ferrets start going downhill, it can occur in a matter of hours. She needs to get in there right away, it could be almost anything. Try hand feeding her some soup in the interim.

I just tried giving her soup and she only ate a little when I hand fed her but then she stopped eating. None of the vets are open except for emergency vets so my mom is saying to wait until tomorrow.

Thank you for talking your mom into getting her to a vet today. Keep us posted. - a ferret that refuses to eat is a bad sign

The vet thinks she has a blockage. Since the emergency vet is twice as expensive as our regular vet I have to wait until tomorrow morning to do x rays to see is she for sure has a blockage. She did get sub q fluids to make her feel a little better. They said if she stays hydrated and gets plenty of water she may be able to pass the blockage without surgery. Should I force feed her water? How often? Should I separate her from the other 2 ferrets or leave them together? I worry they will bother her. She just wants to sleep. How likely is it that she will pass the blockage on her own?

You could try feeding her some plain pumpkin. That can help pass a blockage. Even some vaseline to lube her up could help to pass the blockage.

If she has a blockage, you don't have any real time to wait. She's got to have something done, or she may not make it. I do understand about the cost, so in the interim, start really pushing plain pure pumpkin, a tsp every couple of hours. If you have lax, give about 1/2 tsp of that as well. Keep giving it tonight. Don't push her to eat, she will feel too ill. If you don't have lax or vaseline, you can try some oil, preferably olive, but right now to be honest, almost any kind will work to "lube" her up. Please keep us posted on her progress. And for moral support, if you don't have skype, you may want to download it so you can talk to someone.

Please keep us posted, this is indeed serious. A healing candle is lit. Please get this little one in for surgery asap if it is indeed a blockage. You've not had any xrays yet? ciao

She has not had x rays yet. I am bringing her in to our regular vet as soon as they open tomorrow morning which I think is at 8. I dont have vaseline or ferret lax but I do have pumpkin and olive oil. Is one better than the other? Do I also give 1/2 tsp of oil every 2 hours?

That's good, but keep giving it. At worst, she'll get the runs. It's by far the better alternative.

I gave her olive oil and punpkin every 2 hours. She seems to feel a little better. She decided to sleep in the same hammock as Risa and Rikku and when I open the cage door she looks at me. Before she just layed there and didnt do anything. She has been pooping too but she has not passed anything. I will be bringing her to the vet in about half an hour.
