Hi so I have two ferrets and for now they're cage less due to me getting a bad cage. Anyways I'm in the process of looking for a new one so suggestions will be great And also is it hard to litter train then ? Right now they are just roaming around in my room (before I left the cage open most of the time) and pooping in a few corners that gets kinda stink Anyways sorry for any spelling errors this is typed out on my phone

It's not super hard, I think. It just takes perseverance! I'd put like 1-2 in corners they frequent the most, and cover the other corners in blankets (they are clean creatures and don't poop where they sleep so if they see blankies they aren't going to think of it as a toilet corner). Whenever you see them going anywhere else just pick them up and put them in the right place. If you also put old poopies in the new litter they'll be able to see/smell them and say "oh hey that's what this is for!" and will know exactly where they're supposed to go too. However they will always have a few misses even properly litter trained, especially if they're kits, because sometimes kits just can't hold it!
I know almost everyone uses a Ferret Nation cage of different sizes so I would look into those (I need one, the cage I have isn't great)

Just keep in mind no ferret(or VERY few) will be 100% with a box. You can use potty papers in the corners they prefer and just replace a couple times a day. The one or two corners they use most use larger cat pans with your chosen litter. Just cut down an area at the front of the box and file smooth.

Litter boxes... There are 6 in the ferret room here and though in the cage they use them out of the cage I have 3 that insist that the only suitable place to poo is in the doorway..next to that litter box . It is what it is though, I keep paper towels handy lol As for cages, I would suggest getting a fn 181, you can add to it and it is roomy enough for 2 ferts as long as they get a good amount if out of cage time Here is a link, check it every few days though as the price fluctuates. At one point they were down to 90$ www.petsupplies.com/item/ferret-nation-habitat-model-181-single-unit/650428/IF you order from them I wouldn't bother with the fast shipping, they are very fast getting things out, my longest wait was 4 days but normally it takes 3. That likely depends on location though. They ship out from Pa. I believe.

It is what it is though, I keep paper towels handy lol You know, Gwin does that too. He'll even go iN the box, sniff at his older poopies and then get out and go right next to it if I don't catch him and put him right back in. I think sometimes he thinks theres no room or something so he goes for the next best place. It's a roomy pan and clean so he's being picky! Oh no that link you sent us to is glorious, it's so affordable that it's hard to resist buying the FN right now! I was going to hold off for another few paychecks but I think I can be a little bad and charge it. So it's room enough for two ferrets that only spend a few hours in there (sleeping?). I'm setting up my room to be free range in the next few weeks and stuff, and I want to get Gwin a friend. And it helps with the add-on because I know I'll want future babiessss

That's where I've gotten all my FNs from and out of 3 shipments I only had slight damage to a single pan, it had a tiny hole chipped into it.
Sherry or one of the others would be better to say how many it can house but I do know someone on another forum that houses 5 in a single but they are only in at night.

Hi Josh, and Welcome to the HFF. Mine are free range and I use puppy pads. Like everyone else says, I put one in each corner, leave a poop on it and before long, I know which corners they prefer and pick up the other pads. The cage I have is the Marshall Folding Mansion, since they are not in it, I just wanted one that would be easy to disassemble and would travel well, if we needed to go somewhere or I wanted to board them at the vets (in an emergency). Its large and roomy and I have tricked it out. Most of the ferrents here, swear by the Ferret Nation, so I would listen to them.
