I need an advice finding a kit from a good breeder. I'm in Canada, BC and there is no breeders. I know that many breeders do not ship their kits, but I also know that some do. I don't mind paying for shipping, good carrier and such. I could drive if within driving distance, or perhaps even travel if it's reasonable. Did anyone had any experience flying with ferrets? Would they be allowed inside the passenger cabin? I do realize that it is stressful for a ferret to travel. I looked at some breeder websites and most are outdated. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, its so much fun looking for a little one. Type in Ferret Breeders in the search bar, there is a link from 2011 posted by Sherry (sorry, I still can't link), which shows a long list of breeders. We have several on the forum, they will probably respond soon. Good Luck, and let us know when you do find someone.

Thanks for your response :-) I will try finding the link, although I feel like I looked at many websites (I found a post about breeders elsewhere). I guess I'm hoping that someone will point me in the right breeder's direction so that I will contact the best and easiest (to get to/get a kit from) ones first :-)

Trying to get a breeder kit shipped to Canada is definitely interesting. They need rabies shots, microchip, etc. As well as jumping through a ton of hoops!

Trying to get a breeder kit shipped to Canada is definitely interesting. They need rabies shots, microchip, etc. As well as jumping through a ton of hoops! Hi Sherry, This is what is stated on Canadian Food Inspection Agency web : B. My ferret is coming to Canada from the United States of America Ferrets from the United States can be imported into Canada without an import permit if they are presented at the port of entry with a vaccination certificate, which has been signed by a licensed veterinarian and which states that the animals have been vaccinated against rabies in the year preceding the date of import. Ferrets less than three months of age are not subject to any import restrictions. This is the link www.inspection.gc.ca/animals/terrestrial-animals/imports/policies/live-animals/pets/ferrets-etc-/eng/1331923269633/1331923405610It sounds like it is very easy to import a ferret from USA. I crossed USA and Canada border with my ferret in the past, it was very easy. No questions asked, no microchip required.

Take a look at PVO Ferrets website. Pam VanOverloop had 10 kits about two months ago. She is Columbus Ohio, and will be at the Buckeye bash. She still has 5 kits available, and they are darling!

Buckeye Bash is happening too soon! I'm unfortunately working on August 23-24. If I had more warning, I would plan for it. However, this wouldn't necessarily be easier for me (more fun yes!)as it is in Ohio anyway. I could just travel to a breeder then. I don't mind traveling to Ohio for a right kit

I've watched the kits all summer, they are just so cute! And the mom is so loving and sweet with all 10 (goodness!!) of them. If you go to Pams website and email her, she will respond pretty quickly. And if it turned out, that you were interested, she might be willing to work with your schedule. UncleJoe, a HFF member is a friend of hers. You could PM him and ask him any questions, that you have.

Thanks poncesmom! I do like her kits they are adorable :-) I'm planning to get a response from Ferretown first, as it is much closer. The flight to Cincinnati, OH is $850 per person (I'm assuming she would not ship the kits) so if Ferretown is an option that would be great.

Ferretown has no kits available this year unfortunately. I'm first in line for a kit next year though lol

violetdelusions, I knew that there are no kits currently available, but I'm not sure how many kits may be available next year :-) I know there may be a good wait list already.
Actually, I could attend Midwest Ferret Fellowship at Grand Rapids, MI on September 14th :-)

The breeders never know how many kits they'll have available until they're born lol Nancy had two litters planned this year but ended up with only 5 kits total. There's a chance she'll have a dozen, or none. It all depends on what the season brings.
