I also sent a message and asked her to either ask for a rehoming fee, or to contact FRES.

I'm seriously considering taking them.....and rehoming! I cannot have two more! My new mantra "I can not have two more ferrets!" I don't trust people, I would take them, switch them, and try to find them a decent home. My luck, I wouldn't like anyone and end up keeping them

Rehoming fee sounds nice, but there are people who will pay small amounts just to torture animals, there was just a news article about that, some of them were free, but some he paid for. Not to mention almost every ferret around was bought for $100-$200 at some petstore and yet they are being dumped on craigslist as early as 4 weeks later, money doesn't equal a good home in the least. I won't pay for rescues anymore, the vet care is too much, I'll take them in and their previous owners are welcome to see my setup and get vet references but I won't pay them a thing, honestly I feel like they should be paying me!

I know it doesn't guarantee anything. But it helps to eliminate both those who can't afford the animal, as well as those looking for a "free" meal. I have always asked for a rehoming fee the couple of times I had to rehome one of my cats. I've never actually taken the cash, but I always post it.

I live in Calgary, AB and am planning on adopting from FRES when I'm ready, but sadly I'm no where close to prepared for ferrets right now! I just set up a ferret nation 142 today but I've still got tons to learn (especially about diet!) and lots more supplies to purchase to make sure I'm totally prepared. Also have university final exams for the next 3 weeks, otherwise I'd consider it!
Hopefully the owner will contact FRES and who knows maybe I can adopt them from there in a few months time!
