He had another poop. Another small one. If I had to compare it to any I would say the first mucous one in the bowel upsets. May be the food change but kind of delayed? Maybe he's not feeling well but he is otherwise playing and acting normally. Checked his gums they have good color but noticed his back teeth had dark crap on the outside of them. I'm thinking its kibble left behind from eating? Ill check again tomorrow and if its still there ill pick at it some more. Poor thing I hope I'm just overreacting and he's ok ......I just found a normal poop as well just now I think it was bean though, but I thought he was sleeping and didn't see him recently....fingers crossed....just that it was in a spot I more often catch bean using and I didn't seen who did it

He seems ok today. There are poops in the boxes they use around the house and none of them look odd. I gave him about a quarter of egg yolk this morning. He really likes that stuff! And my dogs love ferret feed time cause they get the leftovers to split with each other I had to go out for a bit and just got back so I haven't tried feeding the raw yet but I have a cube thawed and ready to go in the fridge and I'm gonna wake them up in a bit if they don't get up themselves soon and try offering some. I'm going to put the kibble up till then and keep it up till at least half hour after deizel eats the raw, I don't want to upset his little tummy

Hey, I am glad the poops are back to normal. The blob of clear stuff sounds like mucous and isn't anything to worry too much about right now. When they are switching to raw, their bodies start to go through a detox process. My ferrets had all kinds of nasty nasty stools when I switched them. Do keep me updated on anything you notice that is alarming, but for the most part, abnormal poops are going to be "normal" during this switching process. The other thing it could have been is a hairball passing through. When hairballs come out they look like nasty mucousy slimey worm like things. It's not what you would expect hair to look like. If they are shedding give more egg and give some oil too to help with the hairballs. If its really bad, you can even give some hairball lax for a few days. No it isn't great for them but it is better than a blockage in my opinion anyways. Let me know how the raw soup tasting goes when you get a chance to do it

I'm so sorry. I just got back and I thought my boyfriend was going to continue on with this for me but I was wrong just a LITTLE disappointed!! I'm very very sorry. I barely talked to him while I was gone to get the chance to ask how it was going as I was driving all over every day, and my uncle is very sick with cancer and I wanted to spend as much time with him as I could. Unfortunately he didn't even offer them any of the stuff I had left out in the fridge for them, it was rotten when I came home and checked. Still got some left in the freezer though, so last night I offered some to Deez and he wouldn't touch it. I don't think he was hungry at that point though, he was bouncing around from room to room. Lol. He did give them some salmon oil while I was away, and low and behold...Bean likes it now too!!!! So basically I'm back at square one again (headwall) I didn't even have access to the Internet there either, I brought my iPad but they live in the country and don't have wifi. They have an Internet stick, but it doesn't fit into any of the ports in the iPad, and their computer was in getting fixed, so couldn't even use that! Tried to go to McDonald's and use their wifi, but its so slow it couldn't even load a page cause there is so many people using it at the same time!! It was frustrating!! I survived (luckily), but just barely!! I won't be going away for awhile hopefully again (unless someone passes ) and so I can keep at this again on my own, and hopefully train my man how to keep at it for me in the process if in the event I do have to leave for a few days. I head back to work full time again tomorrow, and we may or may not be moving in the next month or two if we get better jobs, but I will do my best to make sure we don't drop the ball on this again regardless of what's going on. Once they are fully switched I know it will be much easier to maintain, it's just the getting there that's the tough part. Thanks again for your help, and again I'm sorry. Btw. Deez is pooping ok, and has shed a lot of hairs since I was gone. Bean shed too, but I find I really notice it with deez cause he looks smaller without all the fluffy hairs underneath the dark hairs, and some of the dark hairs are gone too. I still have to get you a pic. Try and get one for you later. I've gotta run for now. Ill try to feed some soups when I get home tonight and let you know how that goes. Also I wanna get a weight update on them. Maybe it's the shedding, but like I said Deez looks a little smaller to me since I got home. Ttyl!!

Hey, no worries, I actually figured as much. Welcome back though and I am sorry about your uncle's health That is awesome that they are both liking the salmon oil now. Definitely put a few drops on the soup as bribery Lets just start over again then. Offer them both soup soup. Dab it on their noses, rub it on their gums, see if you can get them to a point where they will at least lick it off your finger and then we will go from there Yes please do get me some weights too

Thanks. ok so the last two days I've been offering them some in the a.m and p.m. Deez will eat a little bit (about a teaspoon) on his own then he's off to the races. This is normal for him as he is an eat on the go kind of ferret, even with kibble he grabs a mouthful and takes it somewhere to eat it, and does this periodically throughout the day. Bernie still won't touch it on his own, oil or not, and so I rub some on his gums and dab it near his mouth and get him to taste it and he proceeds to act like I'm killing him. I'm wondering if maybe I should make a partially cooked batch and wean him to the raw?? I dunno.....he used to eat the other half cooked ones I made and loved them.....*sigh* I feel like I will be able to transition Deez easily enough, but it would be so much easier if they were both on the same page with this switch.

Deez was jumping between 1115g and 1130g so I'm right he's lost a little. He's also lost about half his hair, and I've always seen him go a bit up and down, but still I like him a bit beefier Bernie is 1220-1230g

Ever since we got deez he goes up and down, and Bernie always eats like a champ. I used to feed them a lamb formula to stimulate their appetite, but I took it away cause it has rice in it. But they were always trying to snatch the dogs food (which is lamb and rice) so I got that for them and would sprinkle a bit on top to get them going....since learning even more about nutrition on here, I never bought more when we ran out. They're still eating, but maybe not as much? I'm worrying too much maybe??? I just wanna keep deez my healthy boy. His playtime is still the same though...go go go!

Hey thanks for all the great updates They do still have access to their kibble right? (Just wanna double check) How much of raw soup would say each is eating right now and how much kibble is each eating right now? It's actually TOTALLY normal for some ferrets to think raw is poison. I wouldn't go to partially cooked soup just yet as this will cause tummy upset. Instead, what I will have you do is finger feed the raw soup as often as you can for the next couple days, that means finger feeding every couple hours if you can while you are home during the day. Let me know how that goes tomorrow. Then we will go from there.

Deez actually looks pretty good weight wise to me too from the pictures. Also, if they like lamb so much, and you are willing to spend the money (it is a pretty pricey meat), you could pick some lamb meat up and we could try that with Deez. Keep trying with the soup though. It does sometimes take a good couple weeks of finger feeding them constantly throughout the day to get them to even sort of accept. Just be patient and keep trying!

I tried the past two days with the same results. Deez is eating more in one sitting, about a half a cube, and Bernie acts like I'm killing him. He will only eat what I shove down his throat. I'm almost out of food soon, so the next batch I will maybe try some lamb. What portion of lamb should I buy? Oh and yes I always have kibble available to them. I have to work today but I will get Devon to feed them some while I'm away and let you know how that goes. I've been using the salmon oil to entice them and that's helping a lot I think.....sorry no update till now....ill try and get on her more often from here on....ttyl
