so i got a new baby, he's about 7 months old. so i might need a bit of help, since i've only switched two ferrets so far. i gave him a little bit of soupies last night and he seemed to be what is this stuff. not repulsed or anything just curious. he didn't get any food last night, through the night, so he probably thought he was being starved. oh great. i get a new home. d*mn THERE'S NO FOOD. TAKE ME BACK TO THE PET STORE PLEEASSEEE! he's a chunky boy i decided to give him a chicken wing this morning just to see. he did lick it after i shoved it in his face a few times ;D and i held it up and he kind of chewed it a bit, so if by the time i get home by noon-ish, and there's not really anything gone I'll give him the soup i have thawing right now. is it okay to leave him that long without food? well he has a chicken wing, but i dunno if he thinks its food.

He's not going to have the jaw strength to plow through a chicken wing just yet I'd start him off with some small diced chunks, just big enough to pop into his mouth so that he can actually taste it

i know that, i just don't have any non bone things any more. ;D since my girls don't really need it, but i'm going to take inventory of everything i have today and see what he can eat and not eat. he was working in it though!! i mostly had to hold it but he was chewing off the parts without bone. he's such a good boy

but it wasn't hard at all. i just gave him a little taste of soup last night, and he didn't really want it that much. and this morning i cut up a chicken wing for him, and held it, he licked and started to chew off a small piece. i knew babies were this easy, but he's not really a baby any more! im so proud of my boy.

Wow! I thought that at even 7 months, he would take a bit to get up the jaw strength! That's fantastic

should i still go slow with him, or just let him have at it? and really monitor what he's eating?

i gave him some chicken hearts. i think he's taking it slow, because he'll eat it, if i hold it, he'll chew on it. anyway, he had duck gizzards last night. so he's getting there.

Go for it! Put him on the same diet as the others, and just keep an eye that he's actually eating it

yup. i will do that. i think he's holding off on me, for some kibbles. ;D he seems to like the soupies so i will give him one in the morning or night everyday, until he keeps eating consistently.

Offer the real meat first. Otherwise he'll fill up on soupies and not want big ferret food ;D
