What are things I should be cautious of while my ferret roams around? I'm mainly worried about him going under my bed and behind my dresses in fear he'll chew on cords! I'm tried everything that I can think of to keep him out; like blocking it with several different objects and he always finds a way in! He hasn't bitten anything however. Should I be worried, or just let him roam? How can I cover up the cords?

You should always supervise if you can't 100% ferret proof it. You can buy these citronella covered plastic cord protectors at the pet store though.

Get rid of recliners if you have them!! Ferrets can be easily crushed in these Watch out for unfinished holes under kitchen cupboards, I've found these in the last two places I've lived (shoddy construction) and you'll only find them if you get down on your knees and feel around. You can always take beds or couches off their supports so they lay flat on the floor (and potentially hide cords behind them), you just have to watch that they don't dig a hole through the side. Toby decided to turn my boxspring into the world's biggest stash hole Cord covers are a good bet. But nothing beats direct supervision if you're not confident they won't leave the cords alone.

Mine aren't freerome, they have their room and sometimes the kitchen but I seal off nooks and crannies in the kitchen to prevent them getting under or behind the fridge as for under the bed, if possible you might want to consider building a wooden frame that fits snug under the bed, sorta like boxing it in. You can also gorilla tape your cords down but they also sell strips of plastic you can cover them with, then if course there is always PVC pipes and elbows and such that you could slip cords though. Ferrets are funny wee ones, what they don't bother chewing this week, they might quickly start chewing next week. They have no sense of self preservation I swear and so it is completely up to us to try to out wit them before it is even needed.

All three of mine have been free range, and roam the house at will. However, before they got to do that, I got down on the floors and looked in and under everything. Then I walked around with them, while they explored and was there to see any spots that might be dangerous. Make sure they can't get behind the fridge or washer and dryer. None of mine chew cords, so that wasn't a worry. But Roamy and Juliet will grab things like makeup sponges, so keep those up and away. By wandering and exploring with them, you'll find any unsafe spots and also bond and play with them, then when you're sure everywhere is safe, they can explore on their own.

I decided to go with the gorilla tape and I think it was a huge mistake. :( He never bit on the cords, but I was always nervous he would. So I taped up all the cords with this, and now he won't leave them alone! I Don't know what to do. :(

I usually hang cords up out of the way with cord tacks, that way they are on the wall out of reach.

If he is chewing at the tape you could try sprit zing the tape with bitter apple or just put extra tape over it, mine dud that to the tape at first because tape was a new thing in their space, I kept an eye on it and they got board with it after a day or two. I have learned that with mine at least, the more I move them away from a thing, the more they want that particular thing.

The hard part is, even when you think you really ferret proofed it, they found something new to get around it! My guy just gets better and better at jumping so I have to continually move things out of his reach to new places, and he finds weird ways around the things I've closed off sometimes -- so really I just watch him 100% when I let him out to play.
The best advice to start is just to get down on the ground and pretend you're a mischievous weasel! Then look for all the stuff he could get into.
