I had to think long and hard about this. Financially and time wise. I work long hours and I'm on my own here. Ferts need more time then I can give. Rattys well... they sleep all day and I give them so much time in the evening ,even on my days off I can do what I need to do because they sleep ;D. Money wise I need to save...I can't do with ferts. I don't want to find out that I need to an emgerency anything and not have the monies to do it. I would feel terrible about that. This isn't the only thing that had to change because of money...quite a long list. I still will come by to check you guys out. Your a great group!!

I don't blame you. I wish more people learned about these animals before going out and getting one as a pet. They are great pets. My dad and I love ferrets. But, they are unique animals and they can be a challenge and can be expensive. I applaud your decision. When you are ready, you will be a great ferrent.

Honestly I wish more people would do the research and really consider if they can afford a ferret before they get one, I see far too many people overwhelmed with vet bills or unable to bring them in for emergencies, basic care, etc, it's not a good situation to be in. You really can never predict when something will go wrong with ferrets and it can add up fast, I'm over $700 deep from yesterday in one ferret and he's not even "fixed".

Kudos on making such a responsible decision! You can always change your mind later when/if things improve enough, but once you've got that ferret- they need the care. I do hope you stay around, we'd miss hearing from you

This isn't the only thing that had to change because of money...quite a long list. I still will come by to check you guys out. Your a great group!! I had to make a few points. First off, ferrets tend to sleep most of the day as well. If you are giving the ratties a lot of time at night, then the ferrets would do very well on a similar schedule. That is what I do. As for emergency money, if your vet accepts Care Credit that is a great way to cover expenses in an affordable way. Now, THAT said. I know that you know your situation and what is best. You are making a very responsible decision and I commend you for that! I do hope that you stick around though and share stories and pictures (*AHEM!* ;D) of your rats! They are illegal here so despite the face that I REALLY want some, I have to live vicariously. I like having you around so I do hope you stick around the forums. I saw your new ratties thread - congrats they are adorable!

I agree with Katt on the Care Credit idea but that you also know where you're at right now. Really great that you weighed everything before deciding. I love people who research. Please do stick around, in the other pets section and chat section we can always discuss ratties!!! *goes to see your new ratty thread*

Actually I never heard of care credit. I'm looking that up now.
