I live in Wisconsin. Does anyone on here live in Wisconsin and know of shelters? I currently live in Sauk County, Easy access to Dane County. I know of the Ferret Nook shelter, but they are short on ferrets lately. I am looking for a warm fuzzy for my little guy to play with. I can only afford one other, and I would hate to split up ones that grew up together/brother and sister.

Any reputable shelter wouldn't let you split up a bonded pair anyway.

This I know and I wouldnt let them even try to sell me one without the other. Thats why Im hoping some one on here can help me out if they know of any places. I have a little critter Im trying to fight for. But she is 3.5 hours away each way. Her owners dont know her past vet history and havent taken her to the vet since they have had her. Makes me sad. Hoping they will surrender her to me sometime soon. Still working on them.

Have you checked just local shelters on petfinder and stuff? We adopted a dog from eau claire and I see that shelter sometimes has ferrets as well, I have no idea where that's at in relation to you though.

Craig's List is another people frequently find animals on.

I found: Fox Valley Ferret Travelers Haven Ferret Rescue Ferret Den and The Ferret Fanciers of Greater Milwaukee I still can't link sites, sorry, but they all have websites. And you might try calling neighboring states. Rescue people are amazing, and might be willing to come to you or split the drive. Good Luck, and Sherry is right about craigslist. We found Roamy and Juliet there. First and only time, I've ever hit Craigslist, but boy am I glad I did!

I'm a bit late to this thread but I just wanted to add:
Ferret Fanciers and Ferret Den no longer exist. Your only options for a shelter in Wisconsin now are The Ferret Nook in Cambridge (Fort Atkinson area) and Fox Valley Ferret Shelter up near Appleton. I have met the shelter mom from Fox Valley and she is a very smart and dedicated lady who takes super good care of the ferrets in her charge.

It's too bad the Ferret Den isn't going still. I went once just because I love ferrets so much and she had the most interesting setup Really a nice little home shelter.
