hy everyone, things are ok but dax is MIA I left food outside and inside by the closet he sneaks into, I haven't heard any rustling in there im praying he didn't get out hes so clever and sneaky though, ugh. Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. Do you have any idea where he went? Did he get out of the house? How did he escape? Poor baby, I hope he is safe and you find him soon... There eating beef now, they wont touch ground (I don't blame them) but the stew beef chunks cut up into slivers are working, ive been making like a chunk soup with different meats snuck into the chicken im sorry I couldn't get weights and pics up ive just been running ragged the past few days and now dax is missing im a bit overwhelmed. It's fine, as long as they seem to be holding steady and are eating well. Are they still eating their whole meats and bones as well? For the beef will they eat it alone as chunks, or only in the soup? The chicken bones are going well, the eat the entire neck and tug o war with them which is adorable haha, the smashed legs they eat a majority, but I find little shards here and there around the floor of there den. Im ordering from hare today on Thursday, ill check in see if I can add some quail and I can pick up game hen from shaws. I haven't seen any pork button or duck bones though, where do you find yours? Good! Remember to feed the chicken feet with some boneless muscle meat or you may end up with some constipated ferrets. Duck I get from the Asian market - I just buy a whole duck and butcher it up into smaller segments. I can't find pork button bones here, but I'd look at ethnic markets - Asian markets, Halal markets, African markets, etc. Thank you katt for the menu outline ill use that in between classes tomorrow to make a rough draft and upload that with a few pics and weights, im really sorry ive been slacking im not used to the hectiness of balancing school work and the boys. Getting there though. No worries, I'm on the same page with school. Work on a menu and post your initial outline and we will work it up from there. Ill be back on tomorrow, thank you guys for helping. If I find dax between now and then I will let you know, fingers crossed hes just snoozing in the closet..Please do keep me posted. How long ago did he go missing?

I feel terrible and can't except the fact I'll never hold his fuzzy face ever again he was my mamas boy he wagged his tail like a whittle dog when he saw me and was the smartest little thing you've ever seen , he could scale anything and leaped like a cat off things It's a bad bad day here for us Dip dax

It was worse than I thought, I did not want to show the boys his body that would of been cruel. We burried him beside our porch with his sweatshirt...
So far the boys seem ok still eating and pooing as usual, Marcellus wonders around sniffing I'm worried about him the most Dax was his life partner

Oh no. I am so sorry for your loss Saleena. They are tricky little animals, too smart for their own good. As sorry as I am though I am glad that you found him - at least now you can have some closure instead of always wondering. Definitely keep an eye on your other babies and give them extra special love - they need it and so do you. *hugs* Time heals all wounds. He will never be forgotten. Time will help the pain recede so that you can focus on the happy memories instead of the sad ones. He is dooking and wagging around the Rainbow Bridge, showing off his heart key and climbing the Bridge... <3

Hello sorry with the way things have been lately I just haven't had time to get on here.
The boys are doing suprisingly better than ever. Marcellus liked for him a few times but that's it. There ridiculously playful nowadays. They're still eating chicken beef and pork and they get there heart and liver as usual I haven't ordered from haretoday yet because I didn't realize it costs 20 dollars for shipping and it would be pointless to order only 50 dollars worth of food so were going to get a big order when we have enough saved and then order.
I haven't been able to work on a menu I just don't have time there getting frankenfood and there eating like little piggies as usual no poo problems either
I need to weigh them and I have a few picks I just need a computer out internet is shot so we've been using the phones and idk how to get pics from this to here lol so I'll get weights and pics in a little bit gotta get to my mas and use her comp

We really need to get a menu started. It is SUUUPER important to make sure that they are getting the proper balance. An improperly balanced raw diet can cause very serious nutrient deficiencies. Also, they have their minimum 3 proteins but keep in mind that more is always better. Keep adding in extras like Cornish Game Hen, Turkey, etc when you can.

Bump.
You have to submit a menu in order to graduate from the mentoring program. It is a requirement. It is also VERY VERY important to make sure that you have the proper balance and variety.

Hey, a bit overwhelmed here.
They have 3 different protiens that I can find pork chicken and beef. I don't have the time to drive all over and find stores with weird meat its just not possible with my schedule. I wasn't aware its almost 30 dollars in shipping for hare today wich screws me over because I don't have 30 dollars to just throw towards shipping for a 50 dollar order. Im trying to put money aside so I can make a big purchase, but im very limited.
I don't know where to start with a menu, its confusing as all h*ll and I get fed up and quit every time I try and do it. Honestly Ill just copy one and try that, but its hard because I only have so many options because I can only get chicken pork turkey and beef. Were trying to incorporate mice and rats, but I get out late so the pet shop is always closed aric doesn't have a lisence so he cant go when hes home either.
There weights haven't changed really, novak is still 3 3.5, bubby is 2.5-3 and Marcellus is 2.- 3 There more hyper, and play a lot Marcellus is a dancing fiend, and bubby has OCD he has this obsession with the fridge fan hen he gets let out he goes straight for it, and as ive watched he touches it 3 times ( weirdest thing ive ever seen) so it goes vwaaaappp vwaaaap vwaaaap, then he moseys along, 20 minutes goes by he goes right back, repeat then off and doing something else. I stuck my finger in there ( dumb, I know but blocking it is impossible) to make sure it was ok, its just plastic and it isn't going very fast, its an old old fridge it didn't hurt me so im assuming since he does it repeatedly it doesn't hurt him either. Novak is a fatboy, hes just straight up huge. Ive never seen a ferret with such a huge neck and rear end. Hes playful still and likes to antagonize you buy biting your feet and dooking away.
They like pigs feet, and chicken wings too now.
I also bought a laptop, were just trying to get internet in the garage back, the line got zapped and we haven't been able to get it back since, so im sneaking on here at work. When I do I can stay connected more but it jst doesn't work with iphone.
So ill try and get a menugoing, im waiting for a stipen from work and ill order a massive amount of food from hare today but until then Im stuck with the basics, liver, heart, neck, wings, pork feet and chops, beef pieces (refuse ground) they eat leg but not well even with smashed bones, and soon mouse and rat will be added sometime this week.
ill be on when I can im sorry :/

Im trying to put money aside so I can make a big purchase, but im very limited. Three proteins is fine. More is always better, but 3 is the minimum requirement and you have met that. Even if you supplement with the occasional game hen or turkey (check out the store the day after thanksgiving - leftover turkeys go for super cheap! ) that right there adds a little more variety. Either way like I said, more is always better but you have the needed min 3 proteins, that is the important part. Anything else is just a bonus. I don't know where to start with a menu, its confusing as all h*ll and I get fed up and quit every time I try and do it. If it is easier, start making a log or log it in here. Write down what you feed for every meal and viola! At the end of a week you will have a menu.

Well weve been mixing all 3, we make six 2 pound bags of wings/thighs/leg/neck chicken, chicken breast, pork chunk, and beef chunk. And every day they get half in the am, neck or thighs midday and the other half at night. There is always some left over that I have to throw out too. But I don't feel like that's right, just a gut feeling. Marcellus has been weird, he lost a half a pound, but has been eating normally, and novak has a hack/cough ive been giving egg once or twice a week cause he has been licking a lot so I assumed furballs. No change in there activity there as playful as ever, bubby beats up the cat (playfully, nothing worrysome) and novak is so bottom heavy you should see him run lol. Marcellus is playful and bouncy but seems thin in the hips, and hes got an obsession with ramen noodles, he rips my packages off the shelfs! lol kniffins closed so its hare today and grocery store meat now. But heres my idea of what I think would work this is what were ordering from hare today on Monday (4th) Rabbit Chunks [small pieces Beef Kidney, 2 lb Beef Lung, 2 lbs Rabbit Organs, 2 lb Duck Pieces 3 lbs Duck Pieces Ground Chicken Feet, 1 lb Chicken Necks, 2 lbs Adult Quail, 8 per bag Whole Carcass Ground Cavies, 1 lb. Duck Hearts, 2 lbs Plus whatever I can get from the grocery store so chicken, pork, and beef For a menu I wanna incorporate all of these, they seem to be getting fed up with the same ol same ol :/ Is that even possible?! haha So I guess Sunday- am: duck heart pm: 1/2 chicken liver, 1/2 beef kidney and lung mix Monday- am-rabbit chunks pm- ground cavies (this includes bone in it does this count as edible bone?) tuesday- am- 1/2 chicken heart 1/2 chicken liver pm- chicken necks Wednesday- am- duck pieces pm- quail (bone in) Thursday- am- chicken wings pm- pork bits Friday- am- chicken or quail bone in either leg thigh pm- rabbit chunks Saturday- am- ground chicken feet/ beef chunks pm- duck or rabbit chunks For the ground cavi and feet these include bone but does this count as bone in meal? They haven't quite mastered the whole wing yet, were also going to be buying feeder mice and hopefully moving up to rats. The mice we can feed live to novak he kills them quickly and efficiently, Marcellus is so-so he kills them but not as quick yet he gets confused as to where to bite and got nipped once :x so we haven't tried since then. Bubby im not sure, but I have faith lol the rats will always be pre euthanized there to big of prey and im not risking my babies lives or faces. Im trying to find more bone in meats, but the hare today website is limited. Hope this is good, lemme know! (: oh weights are Novak 3.5 pounds (looks waaaay bigger lol) Bubby 3 pounds, and Marcellus- bouncing between 2.5 pounds and 3 pounds ( like I said he looks thin in the hips but haven't noticed a change in eating) I weighed him lastnight and he was just under 3 less than a pound away, but when I weighed him a few days ago it was 2.5 hmm ill keep an eye. Ill post pictures as soon as we get the internet fixed at home, we got the laptop now just need to fix the connections UGH hahah Were also looking into Angora ferrets from south Carolina ferrets, waiting for the kits to be born for 2014 so its just a plan right now no set date, (were going to road trip to get him/her) there isn't a difference in food needs is there?
