It's my little girl Sadie this time. Noticed this morning that she is having issues with one hind leg. Slipping out, falling over etc. When I touch the knee it seems to be painful to her, she twitches and squirms, doesn't do this when I touch the other knee. I'm wondering if she hurt it somehow.?? Only thing I can think of is how she gets into her hammock. It's an enclosed one with a hole, and even though she CAN reach it and climb in, she prefers to climb up to the shelf, thenhang over the shelf and climb into the hammock So she could have fallen off the shelf (it's on the middle of the FN, so not overly high) I've given her some Arnica, for bruising/swelling. But if it's not better will have to have it looked at by vet..... that would be the 5th visit this week.

Oh, no. This has not been a good week for you. It does indeed sound like a strain, and I will hope that is what it is as that's the easiest and best possible scenario. I will light a healing candle for your little one and hope that she's up and about very soon (without the trip to the vet) ciao

Poor baby! I'm so sorry you've been through so much this week. I'll be praying for Sadie and Neka, and hoping nothing else comes up.

Oh, poor baby Sadie- and poor YOU!!! It does sound like a sprain, and these guys jump so much, it could have happened anywhere. Here's hoping it heals up quickly for her. You might want to either isolate her on one level for a bit so she doesn't re-injure, or just put her with a calm friend on the one level.

Sorry youve been having such a hard time recently. Although I havent experienced a strain, my friends youngest little female- who is almost a professional excape artist- had one before. My friend called me freaking out, she didnt have internet at home so I went searching online what to do and someone had mentioned giving a warm bath. I told her that (among various other advice) but she said that the warm bath did the best. She said in a few hours her little girl was moving it on her own and in a few days she was fine. I hope your little Sadie feels better soon, maybe a warm bath will help

I'd be really hesitant on applying heat to a sprain. The area is inflamed to begin with, and heat might make it worst by bringing more blood to the area, and increasing swelling.

Typically you alternate heat and cold with a sprain, 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off...thats for people atleast I dont know that a wiggling ferret would let you put any kind of ice pack on them for long.

Thanks.
I think she is doing better today. Definitely not as bad a yesterday. I have I have made it so she is only on one level.
I'm feeling a little less overwhelmed today. Hoping things are going to be less eventful for the next several months
my understand in the cold is for swelling the heat is to relax muscles, so usually used only once swelling is down. Though with a ferret LOL can't see her sitting still for either.

Not to over worry you but - tell me which FN you have >142? PM me & i will send out a few things for you. N/C to protect those areas.

wow momma thats so very generous of you. I'm touched, and near tears. Pls let me pay you something for them. I bought my fn used and it has the older shelves, which I've covered with blankets/pillow cases, any thing i can safely secure to the fn etc to cover the shelves.

If I remember correctly 3kaw, if you've got the 1st version of the shelves, midwest will replace them, and you just pay shipping.
