Lucy has been better. This morning she was coughing again. /: but not as bad. I also put izzy and Lucy back together after a nights rest apart. Update: June 26: Izzy- 23g finger licks, but 6g at a time instead of 3! Lucy- 20g (her sick day... Ate from bowl though with finger licks too) Ziva- 33g ate from bowl. Multiple sittings. A few finger licks to keep her focused. Haha. Janie- 17g aaaaaaand: she ate from the bowl with no prompting. Granted, she didn't eat much at all but she got hungry enough not to wait for me to finger feed her! I gave her like two licks and started to walk away and she stared at me and then at the bowl a few times..... And then she did June 27: Izzy- 25g finger licks.... And she ate out of the bowl for the first time no prompting! She didn't eat a lot but she still did it on her own! (Dance) Lucy- 40g ate from the bowl for the most part! Ziva- 36g ate from the bowl. One sitting with later snacks from my fingers. Janie- 18g lots of finger licks and eating from the bowl a bit! (Dance) And local grocer does not carry non pie filling pumpkin... So ill be looking elsewhere for that as well. :\

Awesome!! Sounds like they are really coming along.
So just to be sure I have this right you are only doing one soup feeding a day at this point correct? If so, I'd suggest bumping that up to two feedings (morning and evening) and only leaving them a bit of kibble during the day (none over night). With no kibble overnight that should motivate them to dig into their soup in the morning.

Sounds like a plan. I will start Sunday morning for the first am feeding. I get up around 3 am to rush off to work so that'll let me finish out the week and readjust my schedule.

Kept the kibble out of the cage last night and fed them more soup right before bed. I also made the soup more of a finely chopped meat mince. They loved it, being able to eat more chewy globs. (giggle) And so they ate like piggies this morning ( not by themselves, all were finger fed all day. ) and I left them very little kibble when I left for my later Sunday work shift. When I got home, NO kibble had been consumed! (dance) I'm sooo excited. Aside from the finger feeding still, and jane being stubborn I feel there has been progress and they ALL have been more active. Jane: 737 g (25.9 oz) / 737g (25.9 oz)/760g (28.80 oz) (dance) Izzy: 842g (29.7 oz) / 822g (28.9 oz)/830 g (29.27 oz) :\ Lucy: 1117g (39.4 oz) / 1077g (37.9 oz)/ 1040 g (36.68 oz) still makes me nervous but... Poops are great, she again is eating the most, and today she was CRAZY active. She coughed for a few seconds and hasn't been napping. She definitely kept up with Izzy's kit-like behavior. any thoughts on this? Ziva: 899g (31.7 oz) / 910g (32 oz) / 921 g (32.48 oz) And update: June 28: Izzy- 24 g Lucy- 43 g Ziva- 40 g Jane- 22 g June 29: Izzy- 27 g Lucy- 42 g Ziva- 40 g Jane- 20 g June 30: Izzy- 42 g Lucy- 67 g Ziva- 53 g Jane- 32 g Any thoughts on any of this? Does it seem like they are eating enough? I am still worried about the finger feeding still, but it's been the best way to force them to eat everything today. :\ And I think I need a better scale. It keeps saying lo occasionally, even when I change the batteries and it just seems to be acting unusual. Any kitchen brand scales that are good ones? I may ask the vet about the scales that they sell, but they are 1 hour away and when I realized they had them I had already bought my current one.... I just want to be positive that i am getting accurate readings. It's a Taylor brand and we use Taylor brand scales at work (I work in a bakery) and they are always right on.... :\

Thanks, I'm really trying to! This morning I tried spoon feeding and they finally took to that! No more meaty fingers! they've always refused to do this. Maybe it'll be easier to transfer that to the bowl. Aaaaand none of my girls have had any kibble since Saturday while I was at work

I mean, I'm sure they've wanted kibble but I was home for so long these past two days that there was no need to leave it in their cage.

The girls have still had no kibble! It's been 5 days. And the totals come to.... July 1: Izzy- 42g Lucy- 72g Ziva-49g Jane-27g ...... July 2: Izzy-59g Lucy-67g Ziva-55g Jane-31g July 3: Izzy-48g Lucy- 70 g Ziva - 56g Jane-30g All still on the spoon. And slowly getting them closer and closer to the bowl. Though I do leave a bowl out during playtimes and Izzy will snack as well as Ziva and on occasion Lucy. (Lucy eats the most in feedings still too so that may be why she really doesn't snack.) Janie still isn't totally on board but she is getting better. Now on their poops. Everyone has now passed funky smelly diarrhea stage and now, they are little poops but pretty soft. I think their systems have detoxed all the kibble out! (: And holy moly: Everyone's energy is up like I've never seen them. Izzy especially. She's a riot. She still has the mentality of a kit so she was zooming. I wish I would have taken a video. Even the boyfriend who isn't really on board with the raw has noticed( and admitted) a difference. Is it weird for Ziva to like to let soup dry and then crunch it? Like there will be a few dribbles on their blankets...(I wash their bed/cage hammies every other day during this soup thing. They are quite messy!) and is it safe for her to be eating that? Like I don't see why it would be harmful, but then... There's always a possibility. And of she likes to crunch on stuff (she always used to like crunching on raw bones when I fed raw before), should I just give her some bones to munch and crunch? and loved the post you did on preparing raw.

Yeah, no kibble at all !!! (dance) We still have break them from the comfort of the spoon though. Try leaving the spoon in the bowl with out you touching it and see what happens. As for Ziva, that should be fine. It probably dries out before it would go bad. I wouldn't just give her bones (without meat on them). They dry out to fast. With meat on them they stay moist for longer. Some ferrets like making their own jerky but depending on how dry your home is it can lead to issues. I live in a very dry house (mainly in the winter) because we have radiant heat. This would dry Wilma's stashes to a rock hard consistency. She would then gnaw on them and make herself vomit (the meat was to hard for her system to digest properly). The same could happen with bones. Great progress so far btw!!

Thanks! And yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Since I change their linens every other day I'm not too worried, but it was just something I noticed. And I always go through and look for stashes now And progress update. I spoon fed in the am, which really only consisted of setting the spoon in the cage with them. And no issues, they all ate on their own. Plus I removed any food I had previously been putting in over the night. So they were really hungry. And same deal when I left for work, no food during the day. I got home and left a bowl in Jane and Ziva's cage, Ziva ate her full and then after Ziva went for her nap Jane (as usual, less dominant, like to eat alone) decided she was hungry enough to chow down from the bowl unprompted. And Izzy and Lucy are doing the same. It's their play rotation at the moment, so they have not quite settled into wanting to sit and eat and go back to sleep. The nice thing too, I think I mentioned before, is that the "soup" is more of a mince thick consistency, and has some small chewy slivers of meat and liver and heart and they are not being fussy. (dance) hopefully once they get more confidant in the bowl we can move forward to bigger chunkies!

And your poor Wilma is definitely sounding like a handful! Sounds like my Ziva. The things we have gone through with her in the past. Yikes! (giggle)
