Wow that's awesome! Did it have the fur and everything still on it? Did you have to cut it open for them or are they eating it and opening it themselves?

He got the fur taken off and the feet and I don't like to look at dead rabbit or think of it really... I did peak at them to see if they were eating it and one had his head inside the tummy part so I left the room. I still have it in there and they have been eating it pretty good.

Wow that's really great. Some ferrets have a really hard time with whole prey, usually the fur and feathers. If it's financially do able, it's definitely the best and easiest way to go. Otherwise, tossing the occasional mice, bird, rabbit or guinea pig is a great treat.

They didn't eat to much of the rabbit but they still seemed to like it. I'm thinking of getting them on mice a place 45minutes away sells them so I'll just buy a bunch and put it in the freezer.

That sounds good. You can probably freeze that rabbit to save it. Maybe hack it into a couple of smaller sections to make it easier. It will also take them more than a few hours to eat a whole rabbit, larger whole prey usually takes a couple of ferrets 1-2 days to eat, maybe less with 6.

My fiance put the rabbit in the cage on Tuesday at 5:00am it's now Thursday at 8:30am it's already been left out to long to refreeze right? They have eaten about 25%-30% of it I was thinking of taking it out on Friday in the morning.

If you want to toss it you certainly can. If they start refusing to eat it you'll know it's too far gone for them.

Mine will drag their meat into our tunnels and leave it stashed for 3 days or so before they start eating it even. It smells so nasty but they seem to love it when it's rank and dried out like jerky. They don't seem to be bothered by it either, doesn't make them sick. That's more or less how they'd eat it in the wild though I suppose, so it makes sense.

Mine were dragging it around so that is why the rabbit had to stay at the bottom of the cage. Silly ferrets!

They might have been wanting to eat it someplace more private, or perhaps to pin in somewhere so they could tear it it more easily. Mine will jam a leg or wing or rib carcass in between the cage bars sometimes so they have something to pull against to make tearing it apart easier. It's fun watching them bite the meat and shake it. My guys usually drag away meat to one of several places to later consumption: top level of one cage, behind the litter boxes, in the cat condo or into the tunnels.

Well, Binxi tried pulling the whole rabbit under the cage, Oswin tried pulling it into the rice box, and I don't know who but one put half of it in a litter box. Crazy ferrets so I had to put it in the cage at the bottom. They still seem to be at least taking bits out of it still but I'm goin to be taking it out later tonight they have other food to eat. I can watch my ferrets eat almost everything but not the rabbit.

Mine are guilty of putting meat in the litter box and rice bin too. Icky. Sounds like a good idea with the other meal tonight, you don't want them going hungry.

When they had the rabbit in there I still gave them there normal meals but just a bit less. I kept the liver and heart the same because I want to make sure they are eating right/good. Haha, it's funny someone pooped in the rice box just once then never did it again silly ferrets.
One of the boys I just got 5 weeks ago is really putting on weight and his fur is looking 100% better then when he got here. I have been asking around if he is sick or if he could be lacking something in his diet? Or is it because for 5 years he had a bad diet and now he is over eating?
Thanks.
