I've been feeding sly "Carnivore Care" for the last few days mixed with a protien like chicken, rabbit or pork to try to help add weight to him.
(he's dropped a lot now and looks terrible.. so now it's strick feeding ever ~2 hours)
Although now his poops are seedy - so he's not digesting something... does anyone know what I can add to help him out?

i believe seedy means its not spending enough time in the ferret to digest fully, i know fat can cause seedy poops, is he getting more fat then he once was?

Well he wasn't eating anything for a few days.... so he got no fat.
but really.. I only had the meat in the meals... (chicken and rabbit)
today I made some with turkey heart and pork, to add fat since I thought it was too lean.

If he was off his food for a few days it may take a couple of days for his whole digestive tract to get back in order. Some people use kefir or yogourt. I often adopt a wait and see attitude about this, and often the body will balance itself out, unless there is a serious issue that's not being addressed. It could be that the food that he's eating is richer than what he's used to eating (higher in fat) and his body just needs time to adjust. ciao

Do you guys know if there is a way to get it done faster? almost a 'quick fix'. He is dwindling down quickly and needs all the nutrition he can get.
This is sort of our "let's try this and if it doesn't work, he's going to the vet to be PTS"
doesn't pumpkin work for this?

For some extra nutrtion go to a pet store and get some KMR for him. It's got a ton of nutrients. You can get either powdered or liquid, and give that to him as he'll take it. I'd make it a bit more watered down than they recommend. One of mine had a bit of a problem with it being a bit too rich, and threw it back up til I watered it down more. For the seedy poops, with his medical condition, I think I'd try about 1/2 tsp of pumpkin mixed in with his food to help slow in down in the gut.

Okay thanks sherry! Which pet store? Petland or TB? and do you know if there is a taste to it or could I mix it with my soupies. (don't want to ruin a batch of soupies if it tastes nasty.)
and i'll grab some pumpkin. 1/2 a teaspoon for 1 meal? or for a batch of soup?
thank you guys for the replies, this is my last leg to try helping him, he still is fighting, but he's gotten super weak (probably from not eating) so we are trying to get him to a more independant level so he can eat alone.
I'm also leaving for vacation on thursday, so this really freaks me out.. if he doesn't get 'better' by then, my mom wont take care of him so he'll be off to the vet..

Can you find a pet sitter for him while you're gone?

Just thought of something. Are your proteins cooked or raw? Now, I'm a strong advocate of raw but when our little ones are really sick (carnivore care) I use baby food. You can use either your home cooked or even the store stuff (it works too) For some reason when our little carnivores are really sick there comes a point in time where they no longer digest raw food, at least not properly. This is when I use baby food. Carnivore care mixes really well into the baby food and then water it down. I've never used KMR, I actually have a small can sitting in my emerg kit....I don't like that they use soya in it (highly indigestible for carnivores) but if Sherry has had good results with it sometimes we have to bite our tongue and use what works. Good luck ciao

Can you find a pet sitter for him while you're gone? I wasn't able too =[ I sort of want to bring him to the vet.. but I think they would tell me it's better to just PTS instead of waste the money...

I've been using raw... but have been warming the food up in a pot (food in bowl in a shallow pot of water over the stove) for like 40 seonds to warm it up. Would that help cook it at all?

Yes, I got it at Westhills Petland. Although I believe Chinook Petsmart has it, too. And yes, mine really liked it, and it did definitely help Athena put some weight back on when she went through her "bored" phase (read expensive vet visit with nothing wrong of not eating. Although I'd also be using some sort of meat baby food for him right now mixed with the carnivore care instead of the raw.

Okay, i'll buy some baby food and KMR tonight.
How long do you think it would take to put a good amount of weight on him?I read on the CC site that they put 0.6lbs on a ferret in 3 weeks..
so i'm hoping I can put 0.3lb on in 5 days...
he has gotten a bit of a belly again... but his hips are sticking out really badly..

Metabolism is only going to go as fast as it can; it's going to take some time and patience.
