Maybe its the summer weight shed, but my 1 year old has been having small poops, my irrational fear is that he has a blockage, but he ONLY eats his food and has no interest in anything that's bad, which is why i cant imagine him eating something bad to cause a blockage. Since i had him i've found myself coaxing him to eat (not always though)... as oppose to my new 3 month old, he eats constantly and has gigantic poops, i figured he could be this way because hes younger and has a faster metabolism. I also worry because i thought my 1 year old would be more active after getting him a friend, but he still sleeps a lot. He still gets up, eats, plays, but i'm just a worrywart. My 2 boys are so different, also, the baby is awake ALL THE TIME! No seriously he must be awake for atleast 12 hours a day, i thought babies would sleep more (also how my now 1 year old was when he was 3 months old) Comments? suggestions?
I also had a random question about threads, is there more than one way to create a thread? because whenever i create one the only way for me to do it is through the guest boards.

You do know that your 1 yr old is that age? I always ask because I was helping a pet store and they had a ferret turned in. He was so adorable. So, like most pet stores, they put him up for sale. I lost it on them, they sold him as a 1 yr old ferret. He was actually, 5 or 6 yrs old, he was deaf (a Waardy), and blind in one eye from a cataract. So, that's why I always ask when a ferret is rather laid back and not real active. I would be concerned about the small poops, and would be giving him some pumpkin to see if this aids with the stool. Unfortunately, spring also brings shedding and this can indeed mess up our little ones digestion. ARe you feeding kibbles, raw, prey? BAbies should be active, through the roof active. Your 3 month old sounds about right....yes, cat naps...go go go...that's a baby. If he's not sleeping, he's eating...and playing and eating and playing. ciao

im positive my 1 year old is 1 year old. i got him when he was 3 months old. I know this because he was obviously a baby, small, different shaped features, he was a baby. the pet store gave me his papers that gave the WEEK of birth, i believe it was first week of May. i dont know if a pet store would lie about that ( i wouldn't put it past them, i tried to find a breeder or near by shelter- NO luck) what makes me certain he is 1 is i bought him when he was visibly a baby. and he always slept a lot. looking back at old videos of when my 1 year old was a baby, he pretty much acted like my current baby- however he did sleep more, and he is a heavier sleeper than the baby is, this may be because i think he is deaf.i suspected that he was deaf for a while, after getting baby i noticed differences, so i can say im 99% sure that m 1 year old is deaf or atleast partially deaf. i know blaze ferrets are often deaf,he has a partial white line down his head, not a full blaze.
i am switching their kibble from horrible marshals to wysong arechtypal 1 (i'm doing a 1-4 ration, seems to be doing good, however this food is almost like a powder, so i would like to try wysong epigen 90 too) and i signed up for a mentor. i would upload the pictures of him as a baby vs. how he is now and youd see without a doubt he was only a few months old when i bought him. he was actually the size of my 3 month old now- fitting inside small tissue boxes and such lol but for some reason theres no upload button, so i cant upload any pictures. i think my internet is acting up. ill try again later...
so should i be concerned? he does clean himself a lot, so maybe the spring shedding could have caused a blockage?
i will give him some pumpkin. how much? what kind?

How much Wysong's are they eating in comparison to Marshall's? Given that Wysong's is a MUCH better quality with far less bulk stools will be correspondingly smaller

Also try and monitor how much he's eating. (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) but at 1 a ferrets appetite will start to drop off. They aren't the furry tummies with teeth anymore. That, coupled with spring, would mean he's eating less. So compare his input to his output, sort of thing

That first real spring as an adult really can shock you with the decrease in appetite, yes.

If you're giving pumpkin for a hair blockage about 1 tbsp. If you think he's really blocked up you can also give pure white Vaseline (not the yellow variety) You will then keep an eye open for orange stools. I didn't mean to imply that you didn't know how old your ferret was, it's just done and being in rescue I have an idea as to how often. Some little ones are low key and energy. I've had a number of marshals ferrets who act much older than they are. I agree, try keeping track as to how much food he's actually eating. As it's his first spring he will probably loose considerable weight. ciao

o ok maybe thats it... like i said hes never really been an eater, i would notice he barley would touch his food, ill see hes up, he'll follow me to his bowl ( i feel like he likes fresh food every time too lol) and ill put a little ferretone (i know- bad, but i will stop it completely eventually also my 1 year old is the only one who likes it, the baby doesnt, weird huh?) or maybe some a little water and he start to eat...
he ate very little a short time ago then last i remember was at 5 am, thats unless he ate when i was gone but i doubt it, the baby, yes, definitely ate.
iam doing a 1-4 ratio of wysong right now to marshalls, the wysongs mostly powder so im breaking up the chunks so they eat it no matter what (hopefully) i need to get epigen 90 though because its a kibble.
at first i though ok my ferret looks bored, (almost depressed) But i know he has a good life! so i got him a friend and i find he still sleeps alot, but they do play
actually right now they are both up and been up for almost an hour, i made sure my big boy played with the baby before too. and they ALWAYS wake up at 5 am, have a BIG play date and eat. so idk iam a worry wart, the small poops scared me, but i guess he is eating less due to the summer weight change... and actually right now as iam typing hes eating ( i didnt make him either lol) and doing the usual running away with a mouthfull of food and eating it (and leaving crumbs) uner my bed/ in my closet. food up and run under my bed/ in the closet with a mouth full of food.
ok well i feel better, just was worried because of the small poops and hes just SUPER calm compared to the baby.
