And as a "by the way"? You DO get used to living with only amber lights. My ferret cages are in my living room. I think my night vision has actually gotten better as a result

Thanks Sherry..... Ok The meats left in the cage are 99% eaten...... sometimes there is a little left on the plate that no one want to eat because it is crusty.... but for the most part..... they eat it all up...... I have gotten rid of the soup mixture and am not using as gravy anymore.... Now the meat left in there cage up till recently has been the size chunks I showed you in the previous pic..... so If I take out chicken necks to defrost, that is enough meat to be able to feed them all day long. Then the next day I take out Pork chunks..... ECT...and in between all this meat, if it is Liver day, then they have one of there meals liver.. If it's hearts... then one meal that day is hearts..... They get livers and hearts twice a week Two one ounce servings......and then when I feed egg yolks & Kiefer, I just pick a meal to mix the yolk & Kiefer into..... they only get yolks & Kiefer twice a week....
I have never heard of a halal butcher around here, but I am going to call around and see what I an find..... At least I know I can rely on the 5 protein sources I have so far....
The ground Turkey they are not to fond of but will eat..... I will have to try whole turkey meat.... What cut is the best?
I am going to stop chopping there meat up so small and start chunking it into bigger chunks.... Should I try and chop the Pork Neck bone up some? I hope I did it right... so I am going to ask....... I took the CGH and sectioned it and then smashed and cut up all the bones and meat and mixed it together and then froze it in ice cube trays.... I did the same with the chicken... I have not done the quail yet...... Is that what I am suppose to do?? Smash and cut up ALL the bones (Legs &Thighs?)... I only ask because after I did it ALL.... I looked at the meal plan on the forum and it said no weight Bering bone... isn't that Legs and Thighs? Then I got a lil concerned......
Do you know anything about a DES implant for ferrets that is suppose o stop or help or something with Adrenal?
I am going out to get some Amber lights and put them in the living room... My ferrets have a black cover that I bought to go over there 3 story Ferret nation cage.... but it doesn't cover about half of the bottom cage.

Okay, sounding really great For turkey I just use the wings as those are cheapest here. See what you can find though. Any part if fine If you can cleaver through the neck, do so as they aren't yet at the point of tackling it whole. And some never will eat it like that(my Suki being one ) Yes, smash the bones until they are starting to crunch through them. Once you hear them eating it start leaving them larger. Mine go through thighs no problem, as long as I crack them open in a few places. But they've been raw eating for a few years. It certainly won't hurt them to try! And yes, you are referring to the deslorelin implant. Some are able to have it last about a year in early stage adrenal. As it advances(and it will) it needs to be redone every 6 months. Deslorelin works in the same way as lupron, but they don't need monthly injections and it is generally much more cost effective.

I have stopped hand feeding the one evening meal and will not hand feed anyone unless they need it. I have changed there schedule so that they are out almost all day long and go back in there cage at dusk. I have the cage left open so they can come and go and eat and drink as they please.
I chopped all the meat up and left some chunks bigger than others. The only meat I did not chop was the Pork Necks. I will try and cleave through the bone and see if they will eat them.
I saw Phaedra's post on Facebook about the pig head..... REALLY COOL.... I have decided I think I was nervous about what they could eat....... Not anymore... LOL

Yeah, her crew ARE pretty impressive, aren't they Okay, now you need to start upping the amount of bone they are eating so the stools aren't so black and soft. What you want to aim for is 4 days edible bone(8-9 meals), 2 days boneless meat, including one meal heart(3-4 meals), and one meal a week of liver. If at all possible you need to now source another organ. Kidney, lung, brain, reproductive organs seem to be the easiest to find.

That's still only 5 edible bone meals. You need to increase that by 3-4.

Not a problem- that's why I'M here Okay, here is a sample menu- Monday- CGH(2 meals) Tuesday- heart am, chicken neck pm Wed- chicken wing am, pork pm Thur- quail am, beef pm Fri- turkey necks(2 meals) Sat- liver/kidney am, chicken neck pm Sun- turkey necks am, soup pm Edible bone meals here are CGH(2), chicken necks(2), Chicken wing(1), turkey necks(2), quail(1). That is 8 bone meals. The muscle(boneless) meals are heart, pork, beef, and soup if you just want to do it without eggshell powder. And one meal of liver/kidney. You can split the above up however you choose as long as the essential balance is met.

Yes you did see chicken.... I chopped/Smashed Thighs, wings, legs and back of a chicken and mixed it all together.... Is that wrong? I did the same with the CGH.... and I suppose to separate the parts and feed separately? Chicken Breasts are just muscle meat although I could leave the bone in if I need to..... The pork I have right now does not have any bone in it as I have not yet chopped the pork necks... Should I leave the bones out of the pork? Sun, Sep 22 Bone - Cornish Game Hen Bone - Cornish Game Hen Mon, Sep 23 Bone - Chicken Necks Organ - Chicken Livers 2 oz. each Tue, Sep 24 Muscle Meats - Pork Bone - Chicken Necks with Egg Yolk & Kiefer Wed, Sep 25 Muscle Meats - Ground Turkey Bone - Quail with Salmon Oil & EVOO Thu, Sep 26 Bone - Quail Bone - Chicken Fri, Sep 27 Muscle Meats - Chicken Breast Organ - Turkey Hearts 2 oz. each Sat, Sep 28 Bone - Chicken Muscle Meats - Pork
