Welcome to the HFF. i joined for probably the same reason you did, to help my Ponce. everyone here is very helpful, and while i don't know what could be wrong with your little guy, there are many experienced ferrents here, who will try to help. everyone here has been great to me, and i did find some really good helpful suggestions.

Maybe there are two things wrong with him? What was he eating before the RC? Maybe he has a digestive issue like IBD or an allergy. That could potentially explain a swollen belly. If he has been eating grains his whole life, it might be something to look in to.

Did you have a urinalysis done? Was it chronic kidney disease, or kidney stones? CKD is not good. It screws with almost every other system in the body, and leaves you feeling weak and fatigued. Have you talked to your vet since his visit? Maybe his meds need to be adjusted.

Jim has been around here off and on for a while with his little one. Someone who has dealt with this is going to have to help, since I'm in no way familiar with it unfortunately. I do know that a kibble fed ferret needs a lower protein food to stop the kidneys from having to work so hard. The only thing I can suggest right now is to make a soup from the kibble and give it to him a couple times a day to help with hydration. The more hydrated they are, the less of a strain is put on the kidneys.

Hi guys, thanks everybody for your answers,i wanted to say that the kibble is not the thing that makes his abdomen swollen and we chose royal canine special, which has pork and not chicken to avoid allergies.the thing is whenever i feed him raw i dont see any difference, which means that something else is the problem.i give him subcutaneous fluids everyday to keep him hydrated and to remove the toxins from his body, the thing is that his distented abdomen is causing him probably a lot of discomfort, and i dont know what it is,i was reading something on the internet about fluid in the abdomen but i dont whats the cause of this and the treatment i have to call the vet...what im going through is really weird, cause all of these years i was waiting and i was afraid of adrenal disease, lymphosarcoma and inslinomas...turns out never say never,we came up with the most irrelevant diseases.!i am so pissed.

I can understand your frustrations! I can't recall- but have you ever had an ultrasound done? That should show up fluids, as well as any other soft tissue problems. The problem comes in finding someone to accurately read it.
