They told us she was young. She is small too, uner a pound I would guess. A pound at most. Oh and we are in SW Ontario, near London.

She's a cutey, a little DEW. I'm afraid that I don't know any vets in your area but there has to be some as there is a ferret breeder in your area (a number of intact ferrets showing up in that general vicinity) ciao

Perhaps if I can find the breeder they can lead me to a vet lol. We do have vets that treat exotics but only for the basics and the one I usually use will only fix the males because he doesn't know enough about the female anatomy. He is the same with rabbits too.

Being around about a pound or so is standard weights for a female. I've got a little girl who weighs less than a pound, of course she has 5 lbs of attitude , she's 4 or 5 now. Finding the breeder....it's a BYB and I can't help you, because the only way we ever see any of their ferrets is through rescue You can let your fingers do the walking (that's what I did) and just call the various offices and find out if you can locate a surgeon who will spay her. There is a shadow on her ear....that's not a tatoo is it? ciao

Hi and welcome! I'm also in Ontario and can recommend at least 2 vets in the southwestern ontario type area (one in Ridgetown and one in Windsor) if you are having an doubts/issues with yours.
Alot of the people on this forum feed their ferrets raw or whole prey meats. I'm newer around here and my ferret isn't taking too well to it, so I currently feed her EVO ferret kibble, which is one of the best among the kibbles.

Could it be two dots, sometimes they look elongated but they're dots? ciao

Thank you Kristin! Windsor is about 3-4 hours away but I don't know about Ridgetown, it may be closer!
I am going to stick with a kibble for now too and learn more about the raw...never thought of it with ferrets really!

If you could take a picture of the tattoo, it would be really helpful. I would get her to a vet and have them determine if she is fixed or not. If she is intact, you could ask about the deslorein implant as an alternative to a spay. I'm away from the computer now, so I'll post the article later

If you'd like to switch to raw and like some help, we have a mentoring program that will get your babies on raw

Well Ridgetown is about an hour and 15 minutes away from where you are, but I can't imagine that there isnt a vet in London that works on ferrets? That seems so odd that there isn't a vet there that works on them considering the size of the city. But if not, the vet I see is in Ridgetown, but had to see a vet in Windsor for an emergency and he was fantastic. Heather might know some others more towards Toronto which I think she lives near.

I"m about half way between Kingston and Toronto...I'm not sure of vets on the other side of Toronto...closer to you . I"m almost positive there's a vet in Hamilton though. You might consider calling Randy at Ferret Aid in Mississauga, she and her helpers have an extensive vet network ciao
