You have seven and need 8-9, depending on your ferrets. Just watch their stools. Too much bone, and stools start getting dry. too little and they are loose. Over time you are more anle to tell what they need by their stools One of ours needs 10! Ferrets have higher calcium needs than other carnivores since they process everything so quickly

Oh right, the schedule that Steph had us doing actually had a meat meal Tuesday PM on week 1 and then a bone meal on Tuesday PM on week 2 but since they need more, I will add Tuesday and Friday PM as bone meals every week. It'll be easier to keep track of that way anyway!
Also, before Steph said that the chicken wing joints are too hard for them to chew. Is that still true now that their jaws are stronger? I can cut them up into smaller pieces so that they are more manageable for them.

Sounds good on the amount For the wings, try segmenting, cut the middle section in two between the bones, cut both of those and the wing tip in half, then smash up the drumette really well. I use a cleaver for that. If they've been chewing chunks for a while, no reason they can't start with the wings.

Hi Sherry, Ok I have been putting small pieces of the joint in with their bone meals and they don't seem to be having a problem with it so that is good. I plan to try the kidney tomorrow morning. After the first time rinsing the milk out I could still smell the bad smell pretty well so I am hoping that the second time takes it almost completely out, then we won't have a problem I don't think

Sounds good! Let me know how they do It will still have some odour, but the taste won't be nearly as strong.

Hi Sherry I tried the kidney yesterday and this morning and they haven't eaten any! it doesn't smell very much at all so I don't know why. I have added a bit of olive oil but still nothing.

Brats! Okay, try pureeing and making a soup from it. You will likely have to add a wee bit of heavy cream(1/2 tsp per ferret). What I actually wound up having to do(and still do with new switches) was to make a liver/kidney soup with the heavy cream and hand feed once a week. I then gradually work it up to ground, etc. sort of like another diet switch.

Hi Sherry,
Instead of the cream, would it be ok if we made a soup by blending chicken and the kidney, and we could give this to them for their meat meals if it worked?

Hey, if it works that's all that matters I had to use the heavy cream because one of mine was particularly stubborn with anything else

Hey Sherry! So this seems to be working. They do eat the kidney when it is made into a soup with chicken. So far I have to encourage Cyrus to eat it off my finger, then off a spoon, then she will start looking directly from the bowl but not for very long. Zeus eats it without any problems

Excellent! You can either slowly increase the kidney amount to the correct amount and just give an organ soup, or you can split it up over the days if that works easier for you Let me know which you'd rather do and we'll work the menu to figure out which is best.

I think it would be easiest to split it up among a couple days
