Is it possible she is allergic to the meds? Just first thing that springs to mind

That sounds like an allergic reaction to me as well. I had used penicillin all my life then a couple years ago I got a prescription and my head started to swell, my hands started to swell and I began vomiting. Allergic reactions can do all sorts of weird stuff. If she is covered in hard crusty bumps it could be a ferret form of allergic reaction hives. Sorry you are dealing with this and sorry she is having such a bumpy road.

It's a possibility I guess. At this point I can't really tell if the things on her back and neck are tumours or just scabs from scratching herself. But I guess the foot swelling could be an allergic reaction (but alternate feet on different days)?

Well the best thing is for her to see the vet which you are already planning. Hopefully it is a simple fix. Good luck with her.

An allergic reaction does make sense. They can hit very oddly. I'm allergic to every species of tomato except red ones! And the hives only affect my torso. Nothing above the chest or below the belly. And not my extremities.

Yep, the power of the forum gets it right again!! Vet concluded allergic reaction to the ear meds. I would put the drops in her ears (which seemed fine with it as the tissues are different in the inner ear than regular skin). She would scratch at the ear (because what ferret LIKES stuff in their ears?) and transferred it to her feet. Then when itching other places would transfer it elsewhere. Her feet got red, swollen and crusty, on her head / neck / torso she got little raised pimpley things which would bleed and scab over when she scratched them. Ear meds have been discontinued and she is going to be watched like a hawk for the next few days.

Is there an alternative ear medication?

The ear infection has pretty much cleared up so the Vet just said to let her immune system do the rest.

So we have some new evidence that it was not the medication. The ear she was originally scratching at (originally thought to be an ear infection) is now red, swollen and the lower portion of the outer ear has the skin scratched off. It is also pussy. She has one knuckle / finger of her front right paw red and swollen. She also has a swollen "bump" over her left eye. Vet is at his other clinic today but has ordered some oral antibiotics to the clinic I go to. Going to pick them up shortly. This is a serious plea for help. Does ANYONE have any idea what this could be? I managed to get some video..it looks so bad... T_TShe was perfectly fine last night when i put them in their cage. Could some of you forward this thread onto your vets and see if they have any idea of what could be going on. We are going to try antibiotics to control the infection but we really have no idea what is going on here.

Got the meds and tried mixing it with some beef baby food but she wouldn't take it. Going to wait a bit and try again on some diced up chicken. She is in total sick mode as all she wants to do is run and hide.

That needs to be cultured to find a specific antibiotic for it.

Any idea why it seems to be affecting different parts of her body? It's just so weird...
