It sounds like Simon has hit his appetite surge early I'd not worry about it right now. It's also going to help build his muscle mass, which he was likely lacking. Glad everyone is back up to speed, and to get everyone eating their bone in meats, just start with the chopping well, mixing in then slowly increase the size and ratio until they are eating the chopped up ones on their own. Just so you are aware I've got 3 little girls who will ONLY eat the bones chopped up Even like that though it keeps their teeth clean

yeah Im not worried about Simon, im happy he is getting bigger! Its Sebastian that is getting huge and doesn't get enough exercise. Good to know about the bones, I do have some picky little critters. I ordered some kangaroo, camel, and other interesting meats from 3P yesterday, which im excited about. Apparently even though they will absolutely despise me if I try to feed them straight up venison, lamb, etc, they don't even notice when its mixed in with chicken or pheasant!

weigh in!
Sebastian 3 pounds 15 oz Annabelle 1 lb 13 oz Jasper 2 lb 11 oz Felix 3 1b 8 oz Lucy 2 lb 2 oz Simon 2 lb 14 oz
Sebastian's weight gain is definitely getting out of control. He has no energy, but such a healthy appetite. His first Lupron injection was almost two weeks ago so im hoping in the next week or two it starts working and his energy levels pick up. In the meantime I am giving him out time in the living/kitchen area every day until he flat ferrets (usually about 20 minutes). Normally it is off limits to ferrets as it is not proofed, watching six at once would be impossible, and it is generally the dogs domain. Sebastian doesn't try and get into trouble though so its okay, and he at least putters around for 20 minutes, which is more than he does in the ferret room!
Simon is gaining, which is wonderful, because he was a skinny thing last month when we adopted him.
my current menu looks a little something like this (although it varies a little)
Breakfast CR 7 days a week, either rabbit, pheasant, turkey, or chicken. Dinners are:
Day 1: CR with chopped up chicken necks Day 2: CR with little chunks of novel meat, like lamb, venison, goat, etc. Day 3: CR with chicken heart slivers Day 4: CR with chunks of meat Day 5: CR with Chicken necks Day 6: CR with chunks of meat Day 7: CR with pork kidney/lamb lung
does that sound okay?
Im getting some kangaroo meat this week to try out!

As long as the liver/organ is no more than an ounce of each per ferret, it looks excellent!

I would say the added organs is probably 3 oz per meal max, which equals about half an oz per fuzz. They get liver and heart and bone in all their CR (except the red meats that I add on muscle meat days).

8DCongratulations (dance). you've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone, now. You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would also like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days either Sherry or I will lock down this thread but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly (wave) . ciao
