We've found that milk replacer formulas used to raise kittens/wild carnivores, etc. can come in handy for sick ferrets. The following link provides an evaluation of some of the available milk replacer brands. The information is interesting even if you do not use milk replacers. www.ewildagain.org/Milk%20Replacers/Milk%20Replacer%20Update%20Jan%202011.htmDo we have any stickied post (perhaps even a section) for feeding sick ferrets ----> I still need to finish that syringe feeding document ...beat me with a stick so I complete this task!!!! Duck soup recipes, milk replacers, hydrolyzed whitefish, etc.... there are a TON of valuable tips to be shared. -jennifer

I like Meyenberg goat milk powder. It is known as the universal milk replacer. "For decades, MEYENBERG Goat Milk has been successfully used by animal breeders, leading zoos, and wildlife clinics as a milk replacer and food supplement for dogs, cats, other domestic and exotic animals." meyenberg.com/index.php?page=breeders-veterinarians

Fresh Goat milk with water, a bit of PROBIOS powder, raw egg yolks and either goat yogurt or Greek yogurt usually with DYNE added as well is a staple at our house for pregnant jills, supplement for moms and kits and sick ones. New born kits on up get KMR kitten with a bit of DYNE in it. KMR doesn't cause diarrhea like some of the other kitten milk replacers. Yes the DYNE has warnings for cats but it is a great fat addition and I've used it for years with no problems.

Just curious, does anyone use these Milk replaces to help sick ferrets gain weight? It seems like it would be handy to have around In that case.

I used it for Boris for a while. It was helping, then he developed an intolerance to it, too.

Hagrid LOVES kitten milk replacer! we tried it when Rob was sick, but he felt so bad that he would not try whatsoever. SO we gave it to Hagrid and he loved it! I do know people use it for jills, but not sure what for. maybe extra nutrients?
