Don't miss Calgary too much! I had to cancel one of my clients last Friday because of the skiff of snow over the glare ice! I spun out of control going 5 kilometers an hour, and slid into the curb six times because I couldn't stop ;D

Hehe,
But I do! Living on this island is bad for my health- all this wet. I was raised in Black Diamond and Okotokes. My family is all in Calgary though.

Very pretty place & nice looking house. That must be crazy to just see a road collapse like that. Hopefully no one was hurt. Hurricanes can be a pain sometime, obv living in Florida I've been through many. But never in the cold without power thankfully.

Thanks kelybely The hurricane was nuts, and technically it was a tropical storm we never deal with this kind of stuff! The damage blew my mind away. There's a youtube video of a covered bridge being washed downstream in one piece not too far from my house. Now THAT is realllly nuts

Here is Downtown Des Moines Iowa. (All pics stolen from the web) The park in the middle of the city has this walk way around the back half it The part of town we live in was incorporated a bazillion years ago but somehow we kept all our identity as a hamlet. Our association is incredibly active in the community and a real powerhouse, recently they killed plans by 3 nationwide retailers to build close to us. It's a very inclusive community, small locally owned businesses only. We're known for our architecture and our street parties that close down the main drags for a week at a time. It's pretty awesome and I cannot leave out every Iowans pride and joy, the Iowa State Fair. We were named one of the top 5 state fairs in the country. Here is one of the famous butter cows. Full size cow made completely out of butter. They also do other stuff but we've had a sculpted butter cow every year since 1911. So that us in a nutshell! No scenery pics because if you've seen one cornfield you've seen them all. ~Kelli

That is the down side to Des Moines, we're surrounded by larger, more progressive cities (Minneapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, Omaha) so we wanna be one too //temper tantrum// but the schools are good and the jobs are available so I can forgive ~Kelli

Always wanted to see Montreal, but NOT in the winter, lol! Hahaha. Some if the Montrealers don't even want to be here when it snows! When it gets to -35 degrees celsius with a wind chill of -50... and there's a blizzard of snow... and you're falling all over the sidewalks because the city trucks didn't pass with the ice yet because they apparently get overpaid to do absolutely nothing... No one wants to be here! Except me, because I absolutely adore winter!
