They are that! We've even got a couple who will give a "love bite" to let you know they care ;D

I had a ferret named Daisy who I lost 3 years ago. She was so bonded to me that when I went to school and left her here with my partner to look after her she got sick. When I came home from school it was too late. I tried everything to get her out of it for over a month and finally had to let her go. I'm sure she had an underlying illness but the stress definately triggered it. She was an only ferret for a year and never bonded with other ferrets after.

These are some amazing stories, thank you so much for sharing! For those who lost their fuzz babies, im so sorry. But I am thankful I can learn from your experiences, and I can't wait to get my own fuzz. I am counting down about 20 days!

Koda and I bonded from the second I saw his furry little face! Koda was a ball of trouble from day one. As an only ferret we had a lot of one on one time to bond. He will fall asleep under the covers at our feet, or in my lap; play tag and chase and hide and seek; do tricks for a special treat; *CHEW ON MY CORDS!!!! *; follow me around; give me kisses all over my face and arms; wrestle with my hand; chase me with a toy; entice me into his hiding spots; watch my every move from the cage; come running to the door when I enter/leave a room; and flat ferret by the door waiting for me (or Shane) to come back when one of us leaves the room. Enter Kenai. Being a scond ferret it took us longer to bond. I was unsure for a while if I had made the right choice, but I knew he was here to stay. Now Koda and Kenai have their own bond, but my bond with Koda has not diminished. Kenai was just another ferret for some time. Cute, funny, loveable, but not bonded to us. It took him a bit longer to come into his personality. But I think that has a lot to do with who he is as well. He is jsut a little slow about everything. He's a guy who is not in a hurry. ;D ;D ;D ;D But now he will snuggle in my lap and wrestle my foot. He loves his toys and loves his people. He will follow me around a room and jsut flop down on my feet when he watns to be picked up. Or just lay under the bed looking up at me pathetically until I notice him. I jsut love it when he flops though. He jsut sits at my feet, waiting oh-so-patiently for mommy to pick him up and give him snuggles. hehe And he looves being layed out on his back and having his head and neck rubbed and just being lvoed on. He is a simple fellow, but so lovey and silly and dopey. I have a very different bond with each of them, and while Koda is my heart ferret, my first ferret, my lovey boy, Kenai is fast becoming my heart ferret in a totally different way. Koda is always ready to gogogo and playplayplay, but he wants to play WITH you. He lieks to be with his hoomans. Kenai is a fat lazy fluffy puddle of fur who looves to snuggle, and will play with you, but prefers to play with his toys. So I have one to wrestle, one to snuggle. But both will come and sleep with me and both will follow me around. I love them both and they definietle reciprocate!

As you can see from everyone's examples, bonding is definitely there, but ferrets have personalities that are different from dogs so they show attachment in different ways. Last year about this time I had to leave town for about 3 months to care for my Grandma who was terminal, with hubby and his father to take care of my two boys and a girl. They still got out and played, but mostly slept and hid away. When I got back, they had gained weight from lack of exercise, not because they weren't let out to play but because they just didn't want to But you should've seen them the moment I walked in and started calling for them!! The little fuzzies almost broke out of the cage. I let them out and cuddled them and they were weasle war-dancing all over the place. One even started jumping all over the couches and stealing stuff to bring to me! It was hilarious. I never saw my ferrets so happy. They had clearly missed me and were so happy to have mommy back home. My ferrets alway follow me around. One of my boys, Oscar, would always speedbump next to me wherever I was stationary. You'll find you have to adopt the "ferret shuffle" to avoid stepping on or kicking the little guys who love to stay by your feet! And while dogs bark at you to play with them, ferrets might instead lick at or nibble at your feet to get your attention. They have their ways of communicating. They're such precious little critters and I wouldn't trade them for all the world
