Oh, they are looking good Later on I'll post a pic of my Boris so you know what to watch for He was IBD, and we couldn't get it under control, and his weight loss was astounding. The one good thing? Vet could not believe how much energy he still had in spite of being a walking skeleton, and having had diarrhea for almost a year. She finally had to credit the raw diet for keeping him going.

Oh wow, it's good to hear that the diet helped him!

It did help him for almost a year. Here he was shortly before he passed: This sort of weight loss can happen if they aren't eating enough as well.

Wow, he was really thin. I cannot imagine how difficult it is to go through that. Here's a pic of Mo's mess today. She had a stool earlier in the afternoon/evening that looked similar. We didn't get her back into the cage when we should have, so her going on the tile was our fault. She has decided that she likes the soup cubes, so she has taken to eating them a bit. Sherlock did eat some of the cube today, yay!

Why not use a box outside the cage for them?

Sherlock, 1.25kg, fed 1 cube, only ate about 1/3 of it, we know he ate some of the cube because his poo tonight was a runny and dark
Moriary, 898g, 40g gizzards, ate 3/4 of it, poop was dark again with bits of meat in it- also quite runny

As to not having boxes outside of the cage, we had two out for them in the corners that they favored. The would go next to the boxes or move them out of the way in order to go. When we would put them in the boxes they would run away.
Now we're trying to get them to go before letting them out or watching them carefully until they start backing up and then putting them in the cage. Mo tends to go as soon as she backs up, so we've been pooed and peed on a few times, but she is definitely better about going better we let her out than Sherlock is.

Have you tried potty papers? I have one girl who would go next to the box out of cage consistently. But she will go on newspaper no problem.

That is a thought, we'll try that.

Gave Sherlock 1 cube before leaving for work, gave Mo 40g of gizzards and a chicken wing. Mo will get hearts for lunch. Will make a heart-and-liver or gizzard-and-liver mix for her tonight, maybe she'll give the liver a try that way.

Sounds good! Let me know how it goes I don't know if you are already doing this, but make sure to feed them together. If Sherlock sees Mo get excited about what she's eating he may be more interested. Also- if you do see a food fight just let it happen. Even if it DOES get loud ;D

Yes, we are feeding them at the same time and together. No food fights yet, but if/when they happen we'll let it 'em at it!

Good morning Sherry,
This is Matthew, Courtney's husband. I apologize for not updating sooner on the information but there hasn't been much change for their weight.
Mo - .889g Sherlock - 1.25kg
She is eating the gizzards and hearts a lot more than she was, so her raw intake is increasing like you said we should expect. This would include her eating some of the soup cubes we leave for him. I thought they had eaten 3 of them in the last two days, but I found them this morning underneath the corner of one of the towels they have to sleep under in the cage. One cube was totally gone, and the other two were between 1/2 and 1/3 consumed.
I have warmed the cubes a bit before giving them to him, and tried pouring the juices over his kibble in the evening to see if it would help his interest, but so far it hasn't. I have to go pick up more hearts and gizzards today because she has eaten an entire pack (total of about a little over a pound) in about a week. It has become all she wants, and she has no interest in the kibble any more.

Not sure if this will work for a picture update on them, but I have a difficult time trying to get a good individual shot of them by myself.
