Oh, and any meats you can find are good. Turkey, Cornish hen, duck, etc. with my guys, they only like a particular brand of duck that's only out at Xmas. So I buy about a half dozen, defrost, chop and Baggie and they get that once every couple of weeks til it's gone

Weigh-in this weekend.
Mo - .82kg Sherlock - 1.23kg
And the games have begun. Apparently Sherlock likes pork - a lot. I fed them pork chunks this weekend, with a little bit of beef heart and a little gizzard. Heart and gizzard were eaten first, but the pork was all pulled out of his food bowl and set in a pile right next to the food bowl (a first).
Then yesterday, while they are out playing, Mo is off somewhere in the living room, and Sherlock is in the office with me. I saw him running in and out of the office but just think he is playing with her out of sight. The one time i see something in his mouth, and check on him. He is going to "his" spot in the closet where he has stashed all of his toys. There i find a small pile of pork. I went to check on the cage and sure enough, he was moving his stash from the pile in the cage to his spot in the closet.
I decided to let him have it (may not be a good idea, but I did), and allowed him to move all of his food there to make it feel safe. Once they were ready for bed later, when he wasn't looking I put all his pork back in his bowl and put it back in the cage. I didn't check to see how much was eaten this morning though.
Chicken wings for them this evening when we get home from their vet trip. Please be praying for us. It is their first distemper booster, and we are a little nervous about their reaction to the shots, as we have not done this before.

This morning Sherlock moved all the pork again from the cage to the bathroom. I threw this stuff away.
Some of the food in our freezer is not marked very well, so I'm not sure what organs they are. I'll ask Matt to go back and label them for me so that I can know what I'm giving the monsters. I like the idea of feeding one type of meat/organ each meal so that we'll know what they're eating. I think we will begin implementing this tonight.

With the pork is he eating any, or just stashing it? If he is just stashing sliver some up and slip a few bits in with another meal.

He eats it as well, but recently started stashing his food in the closet if we aren't watching him.
On Monday they got 200g of chicken wings. There werre only a few bits of it left yesterday before I gaven them some gizzard and beef heart. A meal of about 100g gizzard, and then another of 100g gizzard and about 40g of beef heart mixed in.
We have more pork to cut up for them this week, and I'll try to cut it in to smaller pieces this time to see if that helps with his ferreting of the pork since he has never done that with the smaller cuts before.

Trying to remember(sorry- got a number of switches on the go right now)- have they had liver/organ yet? If not, might be time to get that moving.

They are getting organs. You had recently talked to us about cutting back on what they were getting as we were offering them liver/kidney at each meal we were mixing together. We are feeding them meats and gizzards more and limiting the organs to the 2oz per week per organ now. We also introduced chicken wings to them last week, cut up and mashed a bit so they are getting bone in their diet now as well.

Yesterday morning I weighed the smashed chicken and bones that they had stashed in their den- it was 46g. I left it in the den for them. I fed them 65g of gizzards.
I checked their dens again this morning and didn't see any food stashed- they had eaten what was in there. I cut the pork up into small bits and put 80g in each food dish.

I didn't check their dish this morning, but last night before bed we filled Mo's dish with a few Tbs of gizzard and 1 spoonful of beef heart. Sherlock spent play time yesterday afternoon ferreting his pork all over the house. He wasn't taking it to his favorite spot (perhaps because I cleaned up all of his stash from there the other day). He was taking a single piece to one spot, then he would get another piece and take it to a different spot. No we are going to have to plan a hunt this weekend to see if we find any random pieces of pork anywhere throughout the house.

I guess next time you might have to leave a piece where his favourite spot is ;D

Oh yea, and he is sleeping in his feedin den next to his pile of pork he had stashed in there. The boy loves to protect pork, but I have no idea how much of it he is really eating.

We are going to the store this evening to pick up their food for the next few weeks. You had mentioned a menu for us to follow to make sure they were getting what they needed. Would you mind letting us know what that should be so we can purchase everything necessary? I think we still have enough food at home to get them through tomorrow if it needs to wait.

Also, at the store I found beef tripe. Would it be good to get them some of that to have as an option for the chicken gizzards?
